Filson Down Cruiser Jacket

rated 1 of 5 stars Tried to order online, got transferred to the Seattle store, and when I received the jacket discovered they charged me "sales tax" (which is not required in Oregon). Called to discuss with Seattle store salesman and was told there was nothing they could do so paid full retail plus $70.20. Will definitely not buy anything from the Seattle store again; word of warning to watch what they charge if you order online. Full review

Black Diamond Men's Cold Forge Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great cold weather layer. For those that have read my reviews, know that I won't review unless I have had the product for more than a year.  With that said, I used this jacket under a Gortex shell as my mid-winter guiding jacket pretty much all of last winter down to -25°C. There were times when I had to remove the shell because I got too warm.  I also never managed to snag it or rip the outer material. Luck? I like the long length for covering my kidneys and the high collar for tucking my chin… Full review

Mountain Equipment Annapurna Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars I have bought this jacket for an up and coming trek to Everest base camp. I have tried it out in our milder climate on a colder day and the warmth was amazing. I have no doubt that I will not get cold in the Himalayas. I bought the large jacket. My chest is 42 inches and I have a 32 waist and the jacket fits perfectly. The adjustable and removable hood is perfect and if you need to wear a helmet the hood is comparable. The Velcro cuffs are snug. The Drilite fabric make it waterproof and windproof. Full review

Jöttnar Fjörm Down Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Great mid-weight, water and wind resistant down winter jacket. Even as a winter mid-layer. Had been searching for a mid-weight compressible down insulated jacket flexible enough to use as a mid-layer for cold, wet, and windy weather, or as an outer-layer in ice-cold but fairly dry conditions. Fortunately stumbled on this one. Packs small in its own supplied stuff sack. Surprisingly water and wind resistant 30D DWR treated micro rip-stop shell. Over 235g fill-weight (Men's Medium size) of premium… Full review

Black Diamond Men's Hot Forge Hybrid Hoody

rated 5 of 5 stars Outstanding lightweight, comfortable, and versatile jacket, copes with a range of weather conditions and still performs when damp. High quality materials and workmanship. Great fit, very comfortable with soft material around the neck. Best to get a size larger than normal though, which helps with layering. Hood can go under a helmet, but despite that is not bulky without one and tightens down efficiently to a snug fit. Can serve really well as an outer layer in moderately cool conditions and a mid… Full review

prAna Lasser Jacket

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Good insulation with this 600 power fill down. Good insulation with this 600 power fill down. Use it in winter for common work days on temperatures arround 8 to 15 c°. Fit is a bit loose, but very comfortable. Enough DWR to use it in a not-too-rainy city. Just one thing I dislike is that it gets very dirty on borders and edges. After a while it is impossible to really clean it. Full review

MontBell Men's U.L. TEC Down Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars This is an older jacket I just picked up very lightly used from the original owner. I will update this review once I can get an honest cold weather review. This is my first high quality down jacket as the lightweight / ultralight bug has bitten me, though as the original owner informed me that this no longer qualifies as ultralight as age plays a big role in such things. This seems to be a scarce jacket online as there are very few reviews and little real world chatter.  Full review

Montane Featherlite Down Pro Pull-On

rated 4 of 5 stars The Montane Featherlite Down Pro Pull-On provides oven-like temperatures even when the thermometer shows readings below zero. The minimalist design features help keep in the warmth while also providing essential features like helmet compatibility and waist belt clearing pockets. A great option for ski touring transitions, time on summits, or hikes during cold days. Testing Conditions: I was able to test the Montane Featherlite Down Pro Pull-On during the winter of 2016-2017. I reserved this jacket… Full review

The North Face McMurdo Parka II

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Good parka for the money, but not the best!!! Customizing this parka can make it decent and well worth the time and effort in preparing it for real winter use while saving money. Fit: I'm 5'10" 200 lbs and XL was perfect. Most people say the parka runs large. Fit & Comfort: Comfortable and drawstrings at waist and hips work well. I purchased this parka knowing I'd have to make some changes to it to make it a real workable piece of clothing for winter time use. I researched the best parkas available… Full review
