Eddie Bauer EBTEK Gore-Tex Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars

Wish Eddie Bauer still used Gore Tex. I've had two Eddie Bauer down Gore-Tex jackets/coats.

Pros

  • Absolutly windproof
  • Add the best down — you're toasty

Cons

  • Hard to wash but doable.

Wish Eddie Bauer still used Gore-Tex. I've had two Eddie Bauer down Gore-Tex jackets/coats from the 1980s and around 2005. One of the best investments I've ever made.

Michigan winters can and are brutal. I'm cozy warm in my EB Gore-Tex even while wearing just a T-shirt underneath. I don't know how their "Weather Edge" compares. I had to buy a new Gore-Tex down coat from Cabela's last year because my EB's were old and out of style.

If EB brings back Gore-Tex I'll be buying.

I purchased this jacket after finding it on sale. The price was very nice, and I really didn't want to pay the price for a North Face jacket, even though I own a Hydrenaline jacket. I was looking for something that was different than what all of the kids on the street are wearing (northface). I have been extremely happy with this jacket. I live in Alaska, and ski Alyeska, where waether can be quite interesting. It blocks wind, rain, fog, and just about any dampness just as well as my friend's North Face and Mountain Hardware shells at almost half the price. An idea bargain high performance shell that is different than almost anything else out there!

Fabric: Ripstop nylon with goretex
Fill: Light polyester and nylon

I have been impressed with this jacket for all purposes until just recently when using it on a steep hike in the Wasatch Mountains. It was snowing heavilly or would not have worn it and was sorry that I did. It did an excellent job of keeping the precipitation out, unfortunately every drop of sweat my body pumped out stayed right there between me and my EBTEK. This jacket is great for looking cool or very mild/heavilly wet activity, but it won't be donned on another intense hike.

This jacket, which can be found now on sale for as low as $140, is perfect for the person who wants quality ski-clothing, but won't be climbing Mount Everest. I find the fit to be perfect, the double zipper and hood eye-flap very useful. The Gore-Tex functions perfectly and it blocks the wind completely. Also has the option of zipping in a liner, preferably a fleece.

My only gripe is that the outer nylon fabric seems to be slightly conducive to staining, but one wash took most everything out.

Had it for five years. Regular winter wear plus skiing, ball games, etc. Very durable. Overall well made but CoolMax liner is a little warm for summer rainwear. No leaks, bad seams or other problems. I'm buying something new this winter, but mainly just because I'm ready to. I'll give it to my father-in-law and feel I've done him a favor.

Had this jacket eight years now been, best jacket due to versatility, just change the fleece liner depending on the weather, stops all wind. I'm looking to buy a new one, mine's been ripped for a couple of years. The rip-stop Gore-Tex stops the rip from getting bigger, but still looks like new minus the rip.

Good looking jacket with the usual gore-tex performance BUT when I put my ebtk fleece vest on underneath and tried to zip in as liner the right side of jacket and vest had the zipper and the left side had the male ends of zipper, they won't work together. What the??

Fabric: nylon/GoreTex
Price Paid: $179

Love it. I've had it for over 7 years, it still looks new with a wash every year. It's versatile and great for skiing. The only problem is that the connection for the liners at the sleeves was poorly designed. every time i take it off the sleeves come with me.

Fill: polyester
