Suunto X9i

rated 1 of 5 stars Save you money—poor manufactuer support! This GPS device was made to support the Suunto brand directly by not providing their product through general retail outlets, and to make the product sealed, preventing customers changing their own battery. This device must be sent to the local national Sunnto-owned and operated office for battery change. This product is priced-fixed through Suunto authorized dealers only. A MAP price is forced on those Suunto-authorized dealers.  They are not allowed to… Full review

Renogy E-Flex10

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Renogy E.Flex 10 Folding Solar Panel with USB offers affordable, lightweight, packable, solar to economically power electronic devises at home, on the go, or in the backcountry. The Renogy E-Flex 10 arrived in a small but smartly packaged box. The panels were folded and couched in foam cutouts. Beneath the panels were two small 1.85-inch carabiners, four 1.25-inch suction cups, and a bifold instruction pamphlet. The technical information can be easily acquired from Renogy’s website. For purposes… Full review

Black Diamond Moji XP

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Works excellent when hanging. Best for car camping. This review is for the 2016 150-lumen Moji XP. I really like aspects of the Moji XP. It is elegantly simple. It seems very sturdy and well made. The light tint leans yellow instead of blue. But due to some flaws it is not an ideal lantern. Hanging above a picnic table the Moji XP it is excellent. The light output is bright enough to comfortably light a table. The warm even light is ideal for eating a late meal. The lantern is not bright enough… Full review

Black Diamond Voyager

rated 4 of 5 stars Compact and effective. Happy with it. My Voyager is a 2016 model with 140 lumen output from the lantern portion. I hung it beneath a dining fly above a picnic table. I was in a car camping environment for a long weekend.  The light works great hanging above a table, or in a large tent.  The lantern's output is not bright enough to light a whole campsite, but that is expected. My table top was comfortably lit and the surrounding area lit about as well as a campfire.  The best aspect of this lantern… Full review

Petzl e+LITE

rated 3 of 5 stars A very light headlamp, but with some durability issues. There are already a number of reviews of this light, and I will not repeat that information. I write only to say that having used both the older and newer versions of this light on extended trips (14+ days, each), there is durability problem I've not seen mentioned in the other posts. Specifically, dust and grit gets into the lever mechanism. This makes turning the light on and off, or switching between settings, either impossible or done only… Full review

Scotty No. 135 Portable Camera Mount

rated 5 of 5 stars Are you looking for a way to mount your action camera to your canoe/kayak/small boat? Look no farther than this handy little device. I'm reviewing the Scotty #135 camera/compass mount, an inexpensive, durable, and versatile little bracket that will allow you to easily set up your camera on your boat to allow you to capture some great hands-free shots while out paddling. Instead of a written review, I have put together a video review. Please check it out. Full review

Petzl e+LITE

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Petzl e+LITE is a great lightweight headlamp that provides more then adequate light for helping you hike along the trail at night or digging something out of your pack in camp. I have been working to reduce the weight of my pack for longer trips I take in the summer and have been going through my gear looking for where I can shave a few ounces and switching to the Petzl e+LITE shaved another two ounces! I can feel my pack getting lighter already! When I am backpacking my lighting needs are really… Full review

Goal Zero Lighthouse Mini

rated 5 of 5 stars Versatile light and power source, especially for emergencies and power failures. Not my first choice for backpacking where a headlamp is preferable. I have used these lanterns during routine power outages and also during a recent hurried home evacuation. They served very capably. I have also used on a two-week field project, camping in the back country where the USB charging worked quite well. I also like the high capacity "no brainer" replaceable batteries. You can insert either end of the battery… Full review

HALO Pocket Power StarLight 3000

rated 0.5 of 5 stars The three I have owned all stopped working. There must be a design flaw in these. One of the three was a replacement for the first one that stopped working. Junk. Junk. Full review
