I wasn't expecting too much with quality, since I've had some pretty poor experience with EMS brand stuff. But i was surprised. They're made by some italian company for EMS (may explain unusual quality).

The boots are three years old now and have used them for camping/hiking in the adirondacks and in the whites in NH. These areas are wet (rained nearly the entire 10 for 10 trips) and they were very waterproof. They are a bit heavier than others, but I think it's because they are built pretty heavy duty. That also makes break in a pain. I wore them for two months (day to day) before hitting the trail, and I got nasty blisters. After that they were fine though.

Summary:

cheapest high quality all leather boot I could find

somewhat heavy and long break in

very good waterproofing
