Chamois Butt’r Chamois Butt'r Original

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a great skin lubricant for use just about anywhere on your body. It seems the older I get the more things I have to deal with to continue to enjoy the hiking and backpacking that I do. One item that I don't recall ever having to deal with when I was younger is chaffing in various areas that after a day or two of longer hikes, would be uncomfortable enough that I would need several days to recover before hiking again. To address the issue I went out and started looking for something to help… Full review

TheTentLab Deuce of Spades

rated 5 of 5 stars This is the best trowel to have on any backpacking trip! Small, lightweight, sturdy! It gets the job done! There are not many out there to choose from, but this is for sure the best one! I used to have a hard plastic one, but this one is way better! I brought this on my thru hike on the JMT in August. I love it! It was lightweight and small enough to fit in any side pocket of my pack. I like how strong it is. Anyone who has been hiking through the Sierras knows that there aren't toilets in too many… Full review

PROcure Epsom Salt Rub

rated 3 of 5 stars An easy to use spot treatment for sore muscles. Mixed with aloe, it is non-greasy and odorless. When I received a sample of the PROcure Epsom Salt Rub, my first thought was this is another product making dubious claims without any science behind it. While I had certainly taken Epsom salt laden baths in the past for aches and sore muscles it just seemed a stretch for it to work as a topical product.  After using the rub for several months for a variety of muscle pains I became a believer. While… Full review

Chamois Butt’r GoStik

rated 4 of 5 stars A solid stick skin lubricant for use wherever chafing occurs. Non-greasy and washes off with soap and water. Will not stain clothes. Chamois Butt'r GoStik is a solid skin lubricant that comes in a hand held applicator. This non-greasy, non-fragrant lubricant stays where you apply it and is easily washed off with soap and water. After receiving a sample of the GoStik, I immediately put it to the test during several mountain treks. On an August 50-mile backpacking trip along the southern end of… Full review

Adventure Medical Kits Ultralight & Watertight .7

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Adventure Medical Kit’s Ultralight & Watertight .7 is a nice group first aid kit when hiking in the backcountry, paddling down the river, or car camping near home. Plenty is offered in this 6oz (178g) kit. Its waterproofing allows you to store it in the top of your pack without concern for rain or rapids. I have been carrying the Ultralight & Watertight .7 on various day hikes with my family during the summer. I am fortunate to say that I have not needed to actually use any of the materials… Full review

pStyle

rated 5 of 5 stars pStyle allows active women to be able to go to the bathroom without having to sit, squat, or pull your drawers down! I use this for ALL my outdoor activities and for road trips. You can discreetly go to the bathroom without having to expose all or search for a place to do it. It's even great for porta-potties! This amazing product has been discovered mostly by word of mouth among active women seeking an easier, more discreet way to go to the bathroom while doing outdoor activities. Most of us had… Full review

Perfect Fitness Cooling Towel

rated 0.5 of 5 stars I, too, ended up with a nasty poison-like rash on my neck, face, forehead, and arms — every single place that I had used the towel. I ended up going to an Urgent Care facility and they gave me a regimen of prednisone. This is a horrible product. My husband used my towel just a couple times that same day on his arms and got a small rash that went away with Benadryl. I WIIL NOT BE BUYING THIS PRODUCT AGAIN AND HAVE ALREADY DISCARDED THE ONE I HAVE.  TOTALLY NOT WORTH THE MONEY! Full review

Compeed

rated 4 of 5 stars This blister treatment works like a dream to protect and heal any blister. They are not as effective when walking with wet feet or swimming while they are still on. In those circumstances it is best to add a waterproof covering over the Compeed. For long hikes, more than a day, I always carry a good supply. I have used these on many hikes where extended walking time has resulted in even well worn in boots rubbing a bit. They provide a good cover across the whole blister and have different sizes… Full review

Compeed

rated 5 of 5 stars A self-adhesive blister prevention/treatment that also works for calluses and corns. More expensive than Moleskin for blister prevention, but about as good as it gets for treatment of open blisters. I'd recommend having a few of these along when breaking in new boots or in the first aid kit on longer hikes and ski tours. Great stuff. For the first half of the backountry ski season this year I had something funny going on with my right little toe — it would start hurting like hell after a few hours… Full review
