Loki Morf Zip Up Hoodie

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This is a hoodie you can live in. Highly recommended. The fit of this hoodie is generous to say the least. The size I have is a medium, and I normally take a large to XL in most other outerwear items. Comfortable too. The mitts and the face/neck guard are built in to the hoodie, as is done on all Loki jackets and parkas. The material is water resistant, not waterproof. It will hold up okay against a light rain sprinkle. Loki offers it in a small selection of colors. It works well alone, under a… Full review

Marmot Men's Reactor Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The perfect fleece as an outer layer or mid-layer in colder temps for a trip to the backcountry or as a daily use item. It is warm, lightweight, soft, and snuggly. The drawstring cinch on the hem is perfect, the pockets welcome your hands, and there is no restricted movement when you need to move your arms around. Let's do the negative first. This thing is a little bulky and takes up more room in my pack than I would like. As a mid-layer, it would be nice if it had thumb loops, and I may sew in… Full review

Haglofs L.I.M. Power Dry Hooded Top

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Lightweight but pricey airy warmth. The L.I.M. Power Dry Hooded Top is a very lightweight fleece grid jacket that is suitable for all but the hottest times of year. It dries faster than any material I've seen, and is very comfortable to hike in. The grid faces inward and the outer face is smooth. It's thinner than an R1, when held up to the sun you can see through it. It seems to be durable. It isn't showing signs of pack or any other kind of abrasion since purchased 9 months ago, in fact, it still… Full review

Patagonia Women's Better Sweater Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars SO many pockets! Cozy, convenient zip pockets and inside drop pockets, easy to clean and versatile. My staple camping and hiking companion and an alternative to a hoodie. No need for a scarf because the zip goes all the way up to the collar and it doesn't scratch your chin. Great for any women's shape and honestly it's pretty flattering. I'm usually a Small but opted for the Medium to wear layers comfortably underneath. Women tend to get the short end of the stick when it comes to outdoor clothing,… Full review

Patagonia Men's R3 Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Athletic cut synthetic fleece jacket that was made for working hard in cold weather. You can wear this in a wide range of temperatures because it is very warm under a wind shell, yet it lets air and moisture through easily as an outer layer. I particularly like the smart hybrid use of fuzzy fleece in some areas and stretchy, high-wicking grid fabric in others. Typical high quality jacket from Patagonia. The only weakness? Synthetics you use for high-output activities get smelly, and this is no exception. Full review

Patagonia Men's R4 Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Plush, good looking, comfortable, warm, and windproof. What more could you want in a fleece jacket? I've had my R4 for about 12 years. It has been put through the ringer. It is in every way still as plush, warm, and durable as the day I got it. It is inherently a good looking jacket. Perfect for wearing around town on cold days. I do not always take it on backpacking trips. It does not pack or compress well and it takes up considerable volume in a pack. But in the deepest winter when I know it's… Full review

Patagonia Men's R2 Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars I'm writing this mainly because my version of the R4 is drastically different from the others reviewed below. This is a great layering piece, but doesn't make it into my pack very often because I rarely go out into the conditions in which it would be useful. I mainly wear it under a puffy coat during those bitter cold, windy Missouri Januarys and Februarys. I purchased this jacket for $2 at a thrift store in Stockton, Calif. I don't know how old it is, but I believe it to be several seasons older… Full review

Patagonia Men's Dual Aspect Hoody

rated 5 of 5 stars The Dual Aspect Hoody is a responsive, not-going-to-get-in-the-way type jacket that can be worn in wide ranging temperatures, conditions, and activities. It's just as standout as an outer layer as it is a mid layer. Best use is for activities that require a balance of breathability and warmth (i.e. cool weather hiking or trail riding). Testing Conditions:  I tested this as both a mid layer and an outer layer from early autumn to mid-winter in the mountains and valleys of Central Pennsylvania, and… Full review

TAD Men's Ranger Hoodie

rated 5 of 5 stars I got the TAD Ranger Hoodie a bit a go and it's held up in war zones, hiking, etc and still looks new! It has tons of useful pockets, sheds rain very well, and it will keep you warm! I live in VA and I can wear it and a t-shirt and I'm warm for hours outdoors. You can also buy a lightweight version and layer it with the Stealth Hoodie and be good to go for anything! My Ranger Hoodie was worth the money and with all the pockets I can carry all I need. I can't say too much about this jacket just because… Full review
