Huma Energy Gel
Awesome nutritional, energy and hydration supplements. i mainly mtn bike due to crushed nerves in my leg. However, I do receive an occasional injection to sedate the nerve. It only last a few days for me. That’s said, i have tried all the other energy products that were available. My bike shop owner knowi I’m diabetic and how other gels, chews, waffles etc either tear up my stomachs (at the worst possible timing) or shoot my sugar out the roof. He said he found this new product at sea otter… Full review
Dharma Bars Endurance Bars
These bars are organic, vegan, gluten-free, and kosher. Great for the meat-free, vegan outdoors person. As outdoor enthusiasts, we all consume a lot of bars. Dharma bars fill the bill for those people looking for a bar that is organic, vegan, gluten-free, or kosher. These 42 gram (1.48 oz) bars are available in three flavors that each have a different variety of ingredients to provide nutrition for different purposes. While I don't feel confident enough to explore Dharma Bars' claims for each bar,… Full review
Harmony House Gourmet Soup & Chili Blends Sampler
Vegan meal mixes with imaginative names, but they don't deliver on taste or calories. They can be rescued by adding fats or other extras, so they might work for some people. “Mighty thin stew, though, You could read a magazine right through it.” —Woody Guthrie, Talking Dust Bowl Blues OK, they aren’t quite that transparent, but that song came to mind as my wife and I passed around the first four of these trial-size soups and stews that Harmony House has offered up for backpackers. They just… Full review
Clif Chocolate Brownie Bar
These are good bars, one of my favorite flavors. Chunky and satisfying. Great for trail running. I wish they had more protein. I've tried all of the Clif flavors, and these are among my top three fav's. It's easy to enjoy while trail running or hiking. As a snack, it's quite satisfying. I wish it would have more protein though.
Recommended as a treat for long days in the backcountry. Full review
Clif Cool Mint Chocolate Bar
I have two Cool Mint bars for lunch when backpacking. I add peanut butter from a squeeze tube. Not what I would eat at home for lunch but, when backpacking, they keep me going until dinner. I haven't had any digestive problems from them. And I agree that the Cool Mint Chocolate is the best flavor.
Bought several last year for a trip which I couldn't go on because of family issues. Am storing them in the freezer. Has anyone had experience with freezing them? Full review
Clif Cool Mint Chocolate Bar
Clif's Cool Mint Chocolate is the most flavorful Clif Bar I have encountered and has become the box I am most likely to grab off the store shelf. Filling and easy to pack, the pros slightly outweigh the cons. I don't particularly like Clif Bars. However, Clif does provide enough value to me that I buy them for caving and backpacking. There are tastier and healthier alternatives, but Clif Bars are readily available and superior for activities like caving. What I Like about the Cool Mint Chocolate… Full review
OMeals Brown Rice, Quinoa & Lentils
It's good food, heats very well, but despite company claims as the backpacking food that'll change backpacking, each meal is so heavy that they are really only good for activities like canoeing/rafting, day hiking, car camping. I stopped by REI Albuquerque to get some food for an additional setup week at my camp at Burning Man. I got items from Mountain House, Backpacker's Pantry, etc and they had something new, self-heating OMeals, so I bought eight meals. They are ready-to-eat, not freeze-dried… Full review
Mountain House Spaghetti with Meat Sauce
Crave it, even when at home. This is by far one of our favorite meals. The flavor is excellent.
As with many of these meals, we add a little extra water and usually let it sit a bit longer than instructed. If you don't want to gamble on a flavor, this one is recommended. Full review
Starbucks VIA Ready Brew
Excellent, easy to use. The VIA packs are perfect for backcountry coffee. Tiny packaging—simply add to hot water, stir, and enjoy. Not a ton I can say other than it's good and much appreciated on a cold morning. Full review
