Backpacker's Pantry Chicken Cashew Curry

rated 2 of 5 stars Pretty bad. Will not buy again. I love the Mountain House staples (Lasagna, Chili Mac, Stroganoff), but I'm always looking for something different. Problem is MH has meat that is sized to how you'd cook at home, while Backpackers Pantry has these tiny little diced cubes; there's no comparison. BP does package its meals well though; rounded corners and less air than MH. (I poke holes with a pin in MH meals to remove the air and then tape over them. Also I cut off the corner points to keep the from… Full review

Wild Planet Albacore Wild Tuna

rated 5 of 5 stars I’m a big fan of Wild Planet Tuna for backpacking lunches because of the excellent flavor, texture, ingredient list, and nutrition profile. Add to that, their sustainable fishing practices and it’s a winner. Tuna packets are a popular foundation for backpacker lunches, providing needed calories and protein. The Mylar packages are relatively convenient in the backcountry, being single serve and shelf stable. I’ve regarded them as a treat due to their weight, but as I’ve tired of other lunch… Full review

Organic Valley Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder

rated 5 of 5 stars Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder tastes good, doesn’t have a chalky taste, and adds needed protein to my backpacking diet. I wasn’t looking for protein powder, but when Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder, made by Organic Valley, landed on my doorstep, I discovered that I liked it. The flavor is good, it doesn’t have a chalky taste, and it adds needed protein to my backpacking diet. Protein powder is one of those products that never hit my radar. There are a few reasons. I’m an omnivore, so… Full review

Clif Hot Chocolate Bar

rated 1 of 5 stars Appealing packaging and presentation cannot make up for a flavorless sawdust. Hands down the worst Clif Bar I have tried. With the holidays fast approaching Clif Bar, will soon be rolling out its seasonal flavors. So I thought this would be a good time to warn you away from trying the "Hot Chocolate" flavored bar. At my local REI, I grabbed an impulse item at the checkout. Who could blame me when the packaging looks so festive! The packaging was appropriate as I was hiking and camping near Jackson… Full review

Mountain House Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

rated 4 of 5 stars On the trail, Mountain House's Spaghetti with Meat Sauce satisfies the palette and fills the stomach (when you eat the whole bag). The taste is pleasant and far less salty than I was expecting. Being neither a fan of spaghetti or pre-packaged backpacking meals, I was quite pleased. Those who know me know that I'm not a fan of pre-packed backpacking meals. I find them usually flavorless and too salty. Usually, I either dehydrate my own meals, or I steer towards at-home easily prepared meals.  Side… Full review

Cusa Premium Instant Tea

rated 5 of 5 stars Cusa Tea is a powdered tea with no other ingredients except tea (with fruit in some flavors). It’s a clean, mostly organic product that is easy to use in the backcountry. It’s a good alternative to tea bags if hot water is not accessible or you don’t want to carry wet tea bags after steeping. Cusa Tea is a premium instant tea that makes tea drinking as easy as those ubiquitous skinny packets that coffee drinkers use. Several tea flavors come in the same kind of stick packaging, making it easy… Full review

Mountain House Pasta Primavera

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a new favorite meal from Mountain House. It was cheesy, delicious, filling, and very easy to make. The veggies were good also. Great vegetarian option! I tried this meal as a member of another site in exchange for a review while at Lodgepole Overflow Campground in Lake Alpine. This meal was very easy to make and filling and had a lot of flavor. It is an excellent backpacking choice because it's lightweight and delicious. A huge benefit is that it cooks quickly with minimal equipment. All… Full review

Mountain House Chicken Fajita Bowl

rated 3 of 5 stars This meal was OK. It was filling but lacked some flavor. The veggies were good but the chicken was a bit sad. I tried this meal as a member of another site in exchange for a review while at Lodgepole Overflow Campground in Lake Alpine. This meal was very easy to make and filling. It is an excellent backpacking choice because it's lightweight and delicious. A huge benefit is that it cooks quickly with minimal equipment. All you need is boiling water, a measuring cup (key to perfectly cooked meals),… Full review

Mountain House Raspberry Crumble

rated 5 of 5 stars This meal is yummy and fast to make—though it's basically warm jam. I'd recommend it to satisfy a sweet tooth on the trail. All you need is boiling water, a measuring… Full review
