Cusa Premium Instant Tea

rated 5 of 5 stars Hot or cold Tea in an instant, no steeping required. Black, Oolong or Green tea in several flavors. Sometimes all you need on a trip is a simple cup of tea. Cusa Premium Instant Tea makes this super easy. Packed into small slim packets, hot or cold tea is ready in seconds. During a recent Tahoe to Yosemite through hike, I tried all 5 of the Cusa tea flavors and they all passed my taste test. Being a green tea drinker in the morning, it was as simple as boiling some water and opening a packet, pouring… Full review

Mountain House Biscuits and Gravy

rated 4 of 5 stars Was skeptical about Mountain House until I tried this! This was the first Mountain House meal I ever tried. We ate these on a very cold morning on the Lamar River Valley Trail in Yellowstone. It was a hearty, stick-to-your-ribs breakfast that really hit the spot. It was interesting to see that they created biscuit chunks in order for everything to rehydrate evenly. Super easy to prepare—just add hot water, stir, and seal bag. To make it easier to eat, we cut the top off the bag with a knife when… Full review

Mighty Organic Original Beef Jerky

rated 5 of 5 stars Excellent flavor and texture with minimal additives. I haven’t been a big fan of beef jerky in a while but Mighty Organic Beef Jerky changed all that. The Mighty Organic ingredient list for their jerky and meat sticks is pretty clean, while the taste and texture are excellent. With other brands, I often notice a lingering aftertaste that I assume has to do with some of the additives. Adequate protein can be a challenge to incorporate into a backpacking diet and meat products are a good way to… Full review

Mount Hagen Organic Fairtrade Instant Coffee

rated 5 of 5 stars About as good as instant coffee gets, at a reasonable price and lower weight-per-cup than the main alternative. A good choice for extended backcountry trips where real coffee isn't worth the extra weight and hassle. Backcountry coffee is a perennial topic on the TS foums, with threads running on for weeks if not months, and many members weighing in with their own idiosyncratic preferences. Here’s another log for that long-burning fire. Here's the search image: And the backstory: A while back when… Full review

Backpacker's Pantry Creme Brulee

rated 4 of 5 stars Food is an area where backpackers often have to make substantial compromises, and dessert is an area where this tradeoff is especially pronounced—there aren’t too many dessert choices that won’t melt or spoil or that don’t require elaborate efforts in cooking, ingredients, and preparation. Now you can have delicious crème brûlée on the trail with little effort and only needing to add water to dry ingredients. You’ll think you’re camping on the Champs-Élysées! This is a review of… Full review

Good To-Go Thai Curry

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Restaurant-quality food on the trail. Simple as that. I’ve tried the Thai Curry from Good-to-Go twice and both times the food was delicious and easy to prepare. Generally speaking, I avoid pouch meals and prefer to make my own with a combination of store bought goods and home dehydrated goods. However, those meals tend to be more simple and straightforward. The Thai curry is flavorful and worth the few extra dollars. I’ll continue picking up one of Good-to-Go’s pouched meals for multi-day… Full review

Packit Gourmet Southwest Black Bean & Corn Salad

rated 5 of 5 stars One of my favorite backcountry meals. Great when you don't feel like "cooking". One of my very favorite backcountry meals is this black bean and corn salad from Packit Gourmet. It's a flavorful, no hassle meal, which should be a part of your backpack on every trip. Packit Gourmet classifies this as a "lunch" in their catalog, but I have found that it packs plenty of nutritional punch when paired with byo tortillas. One of the nice things about this meal is, that it is a cold-prep meal, so you don't… Full review

Ambronite

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Utter bunch of fraudsters! Take your money and run. Read so many bad reviews about them. AVOID! Full review

Redwick's Preserves Freeze-Dried Food

rated 4 of 5 stars Redwick's Preserves is a family-owned operation that offers unique small batches of freeze dried foods that are ideal for backpacking. For people like me who make their own lightweight backpacking food, it’s exciting to find a purveyor that offers something a little different from the mainstream companies. Redwick’s Preserves is one of those rare finds. Redwick’s is a family-owned operation out of Seattle that makes all kinds of freeze-dried foods, ranging from whole steak to roasted onions.
