Montane Trail Stretch Gaiter

rated 4 of 5 stars A low trail gaiter that finds a pleasing blend of light weight, durability and functionality. This product is especially good for trail routes requiring frequent put-on and take-off (such as creek fords) due to ease and speed of application and removal.   Click to enlarge About the gaiter: This product is marketed as a trail running gaiter featuring Granite Stretch fabric (90.5 % nylon / 9.5 % spandex with DWR), RAPTOR UTL kick patches (500 denier 100% nylon with DWR), hook and loop fastening (known… Full review

Outdoor Research Sparkplug Gaiters

rated 4 of 5 stars Lightweight, super breathable, minimalist gaiters that keep your feet and socks in good condition. Function: The Outdoor Research Spark Plug Gaiters are minimalist gaiters that prevent debris from entering your shoe. This means less emptying out of shoes, longer usage out of your socks, and happy hiking or running.    Sizing:  I have a size L/XL gaiter, over my EU46, JP29.5, US11.5 sized Salomon X Ultra Mids. I think the fit is perfect. I can reach all the way to the front most lace with the… Full review

Sea to Summit Alpine Gaiters

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Solid and easy to use knee height eVent gaiters. Fit: I wear these in combination with a size 46/11.5 pair of The North Face Verto S6K Glacier GTX mountaineering boots. The XL fits fine. The main calf area is eVent, with a stronger material on the bottom parts, and an extra 500D fabric reinforced area on the most critical area on the inside around your foot. They're really easy to put on/off thanks to the huge velcro on the front. This is great of course, because I wouldn't want to go through… Full review

Outdoor Research Ultra Trail Gaiters

rated 2.5 of 5 stars Go either heavier or lighter. For me these gaiters did't work so well and I think there are better alternatives out there. To be honest I haven't used these as much as other gear that I review. This is partly due to their fit. I wear 46 (US 11.5) and got these in a large. I could put these on no problem (removing shoes first of course). The top of the ankle 'sock' has a small elastic drawstring. I would say that I have quite thin ankles with low body fat and the elastic is already tight. When… Full review

Outdoor Research Expedition Crocodiles

rated 4 of 5 stars Bought these on a lark in Sandpoint, Idaho, for 25$ Best gear deal I've seen in many years. These have been essential in rainy foraging hikes in the PNW. Trusted friend considering I'm usually in day hiker shoes and in the rain. Full review

Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain Low Gaiters

rated 4 of 5 stars Low in weight, high in performance—an easy-on, easy-off option to prevent rain, snow, or debris from entering your shoes or boots. Note: A quick check of of the Outdoor Research site lists this item a a current price of $33.50. It appears to have become unavailable on other sites recently. There is a trail in southwestern that rises steeply from Helton Creek on the slope of Elk Garden Ridge toward Deep Gap, west of the summit of Mount Rogers in southwestern Virginia. It is a lovely trail beneath… Full review

Outdoor Research Women's Crocodiles

rated 5 of 5 stars Worked amazing!! Mud, muk, even water. These things can do it all. I bought these for a trip to MT Marcy in the Adirondacks last fall. When we went there was snow on the ground but it was a fairly warm weekend (as far as Marcy in the fall goes) meaning it was muddy. I was wearing my Asolo heavy hikers and the Crocs. At on point I sunk in 3/4 way up my croc. but these things were amazing and my feet never got wet. I traipsed through streams, puddles, and mud without any concern and throughout the… Full review

Outdoor Research Men's Wrapid Gaiter

rated 5 of 5 stars Gaiters are gaiters, but the instep strap on the OR's is the best. I've done the John Muir Trail now a bunch of times and the one thing I always end up tossing at the end of the trail (besides that WAG BAG) is my gaiters. Hasn't mattered which brand—I just end up wearing a hole on the inside ankle. Maybe you don't have this problem.  I would recommend these OR gaiters if for nothing else, OR has come up with a remarkably durable in-step strap. They call it, "Bio-Thane" which I am learning… Full review

Rab Unisex Latok Alpine Gaiter

rated 3 of 5 stars Breathable with fast and solid closing system but... These gaiters are breathable and easy to put in with a simple and reliable closing system: no zipper, just a strong velcro band. The front hook going below the laces is a feature I actually like. They are also comfortable to wear and adjustable. However, at first use I had one problem: the front hook of one gaiter ripped off. It's true the terrain I used them had vegetation above and below the unconsolidated snow, and my feet regularly sunk in… Full review
