Oakley Factory Winter Glove

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Warmer than I expected, tough and waterproof. I'm not in the habit of ordering things like boots or gloves online, but I already own another pair of Oakley gloves, which I like, so I decided to go ahead and try these.  The price was also right since I ordered these in August, a long way from the winter they were designed for.  The online reviews said to order a size larger. They were right. I sometimes wear a size medium and the large ones fit me perfectly.  I wanted a leather snow glove for… Full review

Salomon Cruise Gloves

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Basic winter gloves that do the job at a good price. I'm more on the hot and sweaty side, because I get warm very easily, so as long as the clothes I'm wearing have good breathability and are durable for the mountaineering hardship I'm good to go. I wore these gloves 3 maybe 4 times in my hiking trips and in temperatures ranging from 7 to 2 Celsius. My hands got sweaty fast...so I take it that their insulation is pretty good. In one trip I encountered some very light rain showers but nothing got… Full review

Marmot Precip Shell Mitt

rated 1.5 of 5 stars These thin, lightweight, waterproof mitts seem like a good catch, but the flaws get the better of them. I had an old pair of Marmot gloves that had a manufacturing malfunction so I sent them in. Instead of fixing them, they gave me $50 credit toward gear so I picked these up thinking, they'd be comparable. I was wrong. Fit and Comfort: Waterproof shells are usually designed with no insulation so they are intended to be a cover for lighter gloves. I bought the XL mitts and I can barely squeeze a… Full review

SealSkinz Sea Leopard Glove

rated 1 of 5 stars Good glove for running, dog walking or cycle commuting in light drizzle? Not really sure what the intended use for these is... One of my particular issues with rain is that, given I now hike with trekking poles, my hands get wet and quite cold often out away from my body holding on to the ends of the sticks. I purchased these gloves for a series of outdoor activities in Iceland this past summer, knowing that I was likely to encounter colder, wet conditions while backpacking and hiking. On our first… Full review

Mountain Laurel Designs eVent Rain Mitts

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Ultralight hand protection from cold rain/snow. It doesn't take too many trips where you encounter cold rain/wet snow to realize that your hands need protection from precip too. These eVENT mitts are the perfect choice for those looking for lightweight protection. Fit/finish is typical MLD — excellent! At 1.3 oz (mine are size Large) there is no reason these shouldn't be thrown in with your rain jacket. If it's really cold, layer these over fleece gloves or mittens. Mine have a lot of miles on… Full review

Outdoor Research Meteor Mitts

rated 4 of 5 stars Kept my fingers warm. Comes with internal convertible fleece mitten gloves that I do not like, but will work well. I substituted them with the Marmot Windstopper Convertible Gloves, with some light wool lined gloves under them. I must say, this system alone will keep your hands warm without the shell gloves 95% of the time. When you get to the summit and the wind is hitting you at 25 MPH and its -35°, you'll be happy you had these. They breathe well, but keep all water and wind out. They secure… Full review

Black Diamond Soloist Finger Gloves

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Good glove/mitt hybrid that is a great base for a waterproof winter glove layering system. Use: The Black Diamond Lobster is a cross between a glove and a mitt, and is a great base for a waterproof winter glove layering system. The lobster design is warmer than a glove, but gives you more dexterity than a mitt. It has a thumb and index finger, and a separate section for the rest of the fingers. When it is cold, I can fit my index finger into the mitt section for possible extra warmth. When… Full review

SealSkinz Men's Waterproof Gloves

rated 3 of 5 stars I originally bought this glove for work when I distributed Coca-Cola. On days that were real cold and rainy my hands would get really cold. They are indeed waterproof, but maybe the Chill Blocker Sealskinz would be better for keeping hands warm. I originally bought these gloves for work, but have found better use for them in the outdoors. When I worked for Coca-Cola I needed some gloves to keep my hands warm and dry when it was cold and wet outside. I found out that these gloves are not good for… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Men's Epic Gloves

rated 5 of 5 stars The Epic Glove is an excellent all around climbing glove for cold weather conditions when encountering wet rain or snow and when doing vigorous exercise while skiing, snowshoeing, mountaineering and other outdoor activities that require manual dexterity, such as technical climbing while using ice tools, or ice axes, mixed rock and ice climbing, dog sledding, skiing, and setting up and taking down camp. Weight: 97 g/3.375 oz  The Epic gloves in use on Ishinca (Peruvian Andes) Background:  When… Full review
