User Review: GoLite Eden 1
Price Paid: $86
I have used this tent for about two months now in varying conditions and feel confident enough to write this review without reservations to what is written.
What I like about the tent:
Once the tent is set up it keeps the elements out. This includes the floor. Inside it is very roomy with enough space for a 5’11’’ man to sit up, change clothes, and move around in. One of the inside walls has a nice pocket to put essentials like a headlamp and a book. The vestibule is large enough to accommodate a large backpack and a medium sized dog. The tent material and the colors make it appealing to the eye and also keep it warm in winter conditions and cool in warmer conditions.
What I dislike about the tent:
It is very difficult to set up. With winds reaching 5mi/hr it takes about 12-15 min to set up. At winds above 10mi/hr it takes about 17-20min to set up. If you have to set it up in a storm you and the inside of this tent will be getting soaked. You will also need to take the time to make sure the extra tie downs are secure. This will add time and exposure to the elements. I have had many tents in the past and setting them up in a storm is difficult and things get wet, however the extra time it takes to set this thing up is not worth the positive attributes.
The tent is not free standing which is not a problem, but weighing in at over three pounds you would be better off looking at a lighter freestanding solo tent, for around the same retail price. I found the tent brand new for an extremely reasonable price so I took a gamble. The tent is worth what I paid $86.00!
Golite makes very good products, but stay away from this one.
