From Moosejaw:
"On Sale. Free Shipping. Gregory Z Pack (Spring 2007) Larger and a bit beefier than the G Pack-but still weighing just three pounds-the Z Pack strikes a perfect balance between lightweight, comfort, and convenience. Features like a pleated front compression pocket, side access zipper, and a more substantial waistbelt make it user-friendly for the average backpacker on weekend to weeklong trips. From EMS:
"Weighing just three pounds, this mid-sized backpack strikes a perfect balance between light weight, comfort, and convenience. The Gregory Z Pack is ideal extended dayhikes or minimalistic overnights. Sewn-in sport harness is light, comfortable, and curved for a glovelike fit. Gullwing waist belt is cushiony on your hips while still minimizing bulk. Chimney-vented back circulates air to keep you cool. Suspension system also features single stay, air-expanded foam frame sheet, sternum strap, and shoulder load straps. Other features include top and side access, front bucket pocket, secondary front pocket, deep mesh pockets on sides."

From Backcountry Outlet:
"The Gregory Z pack 3000-3550cu in subscribes to the theory that light is right, but that there is a right light. Stick with what you need, and get rid of what you don't. But if the pack can't carry its own, it doesn't matter how light it is, now does it This way of thinking earned the Z Pack Backpacker Magazine's Best Weekender Award in their 2004 Gear Guide. The Z Pack shrinks down for the shortest of trips, and even sheds an additional 9 ounces with a removable framesheet and stay. But it also handles a 40-pound load with ease during a weeklong trip through Utah's Wasatch Mountains. With a sewn-in Sport harness and Gulwing Plus waistbelt, it's not just a lightweight sack. Instead, the Z Pack is loaded with these lightweight conveniences: top and side access for easy access to every nook and cranny; a generous front bucket pouch; and a second front pocket and top pocket, both with water resistant zippers. Stuff this pack full, but don't be surprised if you forget you have it on. Three different sizes available."

From REI:
"Save 30%-60% at REI-Outlet.com! Closeout. Easily accessible, the large mesh front ''bucket'' pocket allows stashing of bulky gear. Front of bucket pocket features a zippered pocket for additional weatherproof storage. Lightweight HDPE hourglass framesheet with a single hollow aluminum-alloy stay provides support and torsional stiffness without a heavy feel. Ounce for ounce, Dyneema fabric is ten times stronger than steel it offers outstanding tear strength and abrasion resistance. Sewn-in, low-profile die-cut foam Sport Harness and Gullwing hipbelt are lightweight and a bit stiffer. Sport backpanel is made from AeroTech mesh with a vertical chimney vent that helps to move moisture away. This ultralight pack is ideal for weekend to weeklong backpacking enthusiasts that crave light weight and comfortable convenience. Top-loading pack with side zipper access features water-resistant zippers on the floating removable lid, side and front zippers."

"Nice light pack.

I use it for mountaineering because of the light weight. I have two issues with this pack. First there are few lashing points on the pack. I am forced to put my crampons in a bag and in the outside flap pocket. When I switch to an axe and need to put away the trekking poles

Second the material can be a bit lightweight when scraped against hard snow or rock."

"A great overall pack. It's comfortable, light, tough, and looks good. One drawback is that there is no sleeping bag compartment, so if you go on an overnight trip you either have to stuff the bag inside with everything else (takes up space) or lash it to the outside (awkward). Of course, if they put the sleeping bag compartment on, the pack wouldn't be as "light"."
