User Review: Grivel Quantum Tech

Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Price Paid: $220

I switched to this ax last winter from my Quarks. This ax is lighter and has a much snappier swing (higher percentage of weight concentrated in the head). I climb leashless, so I haven't tried to put leashes on these - but they feel so solid I can't see the point of leashes on them. The head is super narrow so you can get easier swings and placements between icicles. They swing similar to the new cobras, but for about $100 less each.

Give the shafts a wrapping with electrical splicing tape (NOT regular electrical tape) to protect the carbon fiber and give you a more positive grip.

The only downside to these axes is that the hammer is non-existent. NOT the axe for you if you need to drive pitons.
