Black Diamond Spot

rated 5 of 5 stars First of all, I wanna know how y'all got four AAA batteries in it when only holds three?!?! Primarily, I use this bad chicken for hunting. If need be, cleaning a deer in the field is easy. At its brightest, we have blazed the trail after dark, and I'm leading the pack with this light. Then as my #2 task, Search and Rescue. Keep batteries on hand and this lamp will not let you down. Well priced, easy to operate and dependable. Full review

Petzl TacTikka

rated 5 of 5 stars The compact size and light weight are a real plus. The use of non-lithium batteries won't cause any concerns if you carry this on an airplane. This was purchased to replace an older headlamp. I like Petzl products and was looking for a bright compact light that was not too "flashy" and had minimal functions. This model does the trick. This light was purchased as a backup for some ice cave exploration and glacier hiking in Iceland and because of the concern regarding carrying lithium batteries for… Full review

Petzl e+LITE

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This is a great headlamp for backpacking and camping. Petzl’s e+Lite ultra-compact emergency headlamp offers lightweight, compact packaging, and a 10-year battery. This headlamp should be in every disaster kit. Petzl has a long history of manufacturing quality headlamps and they have really hit the mark with the e+Lite. Two lithium 2032 batteries have enabled Petzl to offer a 10-year stored battery life, perfect for a disaster kit. Measuring 1- 1/2 inches by 1 inch, the one-ounce headlamp comes… Full review

Black Diamond ReVolt

rated 5 of 5 stars Lightweight, compact, very versatile, a must-have for hiking, camping, or even late night walks in this heat. WE just bought a pair each for our camping trip, first trip together, we loved them! These were very light for our heads, compact, loved the different play modes for the light. I see that the money we paid is well worth it for a reliable and bright headlamp!  I know these headlamps will withstand the test of time. We will be using them for late night walks in the country, camping, off roading… Full review

Black Diamond Gizmo

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Super dependable light. Small, lightweight, and long battery life. Yes, there are brighter headlamps on the market, but for lightweight backpacking (when hiking at night is not on the agenda), this light is ideal. At $20 USD this lamp is inexpensive and, so far, has been very durable. I've dropped it several times and it still works. It throws a beam about 25 feet. It has a floodlight setting, which is great for pulling stuff out of your pack and setting up camp. It runs on two AAA batteries and… Full review

Ledlenser H7

rated 5 of 5 stars Separate adjustable power and zoom options. Long burn time and reasonable price $69 (at the time of purchase). I did pay full price for this light and it’s been used a ton. It’s actually had more use at home than on the trail in the last 12 months with a new bulb in the house it’s been a great night light. At 117 grams, 170 lumens and a burn time of 54 hrs, it is negligible to carry or wear and has enough go for a multi-day adventure without the need for extra batteries. It has a zoom function… Full review

Ledlenser H7.2

rated 4 of 5 stars This headtorch is a lightweight, high performance piece of kit for hikers/cyclists/cavers/those requiring a reasonable amount of light coupled with credible battery performance. It's not the cheapest light you can buy, though, and could do with adjustment on some minor points. Just to make the point, this head torch was a replacement for my H7, which unfortunately failed the test of duty when it was wanted. So I downloaded a warranty form off the LED Lenser website, sent it off with the H7, and… Full review

Ledlenser H14R.2

rated 5 of 5 stars What a fantastic light!! As a pro wildlife photographer, early a.m. starts and safety are paramount. This baby delvers a most comfortable fit and feel, and can light up all of my needs from close up work to distance. The rechargeable batts are bulletproof and handle cold as well as serious florida summer heat as well. I especially like the red LED dial on the back of the head band, as it delivers additional safety visibility! The unit is slightly heavier than you run of the mill standard headlamp,… Full review

Black Diamond Cosmo

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Bright enough for night hiking. Could use some padding against the forehead. REI recently put this on sale, and I snagged one because my old Black Diamond kept turning on by itself in my pack. This one does not have that problem because the on/off switch is recessed and protects from accidental activation.  I haven't measured, but I recently did some hiking on the AT in the darkness as I left camp at 5:30 a.m. I could see just fine with this headlamp.  I have used it liberally for 6 nights on… Full review
