Zamberlan Trekking Medium Weight Socks

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Excellent pair of technical socks that keep feet (mostly) dry! Having a good outdoors experience greatly depends on the boots you're wearing. I believe that boots comprise 80% and socks the rest 20% of this experience. And 20% is a lot... No matter how breathable your boot/shoe may be your comfort still relies on the direct-to-skin component: your sock. Your skin breathes, even when you're standing still, let alone hiking. Your feet sweat, the sock soaks, and the skin starts to get wrinkly and soft… Full review

Injinji Performance Crew Sock

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Keeps them digits from co-mingling and forming blisters while looking ruggedly stylish on the trail. I started using these socks some four years ago doing seasonal Forest Service trail work. They hold up well if cared for. Used as an under sock to help separate your toes, prevent blistering, keep feet warmer and dryer. Keep toe nails trimmed or you will wear holes in the ends of the toes. Some synthetic outer sock may cause pilling of inner sock, so I found Merino wool outer sock a better choice. Wash… Full review

Point6 Hiking Tech Medium Mini Crew

rated 4.5 of 5 stars A four-season, merino wool hiking sock that is just as comfortable as it is durable. I came across Point6 socks after my wife received a free pair from an Eddie Bauer store. After a couple months of use, she told me how impressed she was with the comfort and durability and that I should buy myself a pair. Not one to ignore my wife, I bought a couple pairs and have enjoyed them ever since. Conditions: I’ve owned these socks for a little more than one year now and wear them on any occasion possible—hiking,… Full review

Smartwool Men's PhD Outdoor Medium Crew Sock

rated 4 of 5 stars Very versatile either in a hiking boot or in a dress shoe. Can hand wash without damaging sock. Limited odor retention. I have had two pairs for 2.5 years now. One in grey and one in the same pattern pictured here. I do not wear them daily, but I have worn them dozens of times in a variety of activities. I have worn a pair in Torres Del Paine over a five-day period of time alternating the two pair. No holes or tears yet.  Full review

Smartwool Mountaineering Extra Heavy Crew

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Outstanding comfort and function, to protect my most critical of trail gear -- those size 12 feet! Makes a great stocking stuffer anytime of the year ... it's the sock that I like getting stuffed into most! If foot comfort is important to you, this is a must try sock. (Durability looks great so far for me and in other online reviews. I need another minimum 30 more hikes before I can better judge durability. I'll adjust rating accordingly when I am 100% sure of durability.) -- Titles have changed… Full review

Darn Tough ATC Boot Sock Cushion

rated 5 of 5 stars I needed socks for backpacking the Long Trail in Vermont where conditions are rugged and sometimes wet. These socks lived up to their name. They fit my foot like a glove (size 13 foot)XL sock size. They performed well in hot and humid conditions as well as cold and wet during my five week trip. My feet experienced no blisters or hot spots. I like these socks so much, I am wearing them at home. Fit, comfort, and wicking qualities...I can't say enough!! I hope this company can stay in business making… Full review

Lorpen Men's T3 Light Hiker

rated 5 of 5 stars These socks are great for hiking in summer. The moisture management is excellent. This is a great light and fast sock. The Lorpen socks are well made, and have held up well. Off trail, they could be a bit heavier, but they aren't supposed to be used so aggressively. They are perfect socks for summer on the AT, the moisture management of the socks is excellent! I used the socks this summer for everything from walking on a paved road to full off-trail bushwacking on very steep mountainsides. Full review

Darn Tough Merino Boot Sock Full Cushion

rated 5 of 5 stars This is what 'smart wool' used to be, years ago! These are what Smartwool used to be, many years ago when they were first sold by L.L. Bean, but have since shifted to Asia.   The Darn Tough socks are even better made, stronger, and with a more restricted sizing structure, so it is easier to get a nice fit.  Well made, excellent wicking capability, and with the company's lifetime guarantee, they will find few returns. Wonderful socks for all four seasons.  I even use the light wool in summer,… Full review

REI Men's Merino Light Hiker Crew Sock

rated 4 of 5 stars Really like them! Warm and comfortable. I might have been lucky, but I bought a few pairs of these about four months ago and they have been great. I've hiked in them and even worn them to work without any signs of breaking down. I know the other reviewer had horrible luck with these, but I have to say that mine have been great. I like the feel of them. They maintain warmth without drenching your feet in sweat. I might not be as hard on my socks as others, but no complaints after four months. Full review
