SmarTube The SmarTube

rated 3 of 5 stars I really wanted to like this product as I think the concept is great, but the bite valve included with the system has very poor flow when compared to other hydration bite valves currently available from other manufactures. I have been very focused on trying to whittle away at excess weight in my pack and I came across this product and thought it might enable me to eliminate the bladder I currently use to carry water. I like drinking from a tube/bite valve system when I am hiking, so I have always… Full review

Nalgene Water Bottle Sleeve with Handle

rated 1.5 of 5 stars Well insulated, but runs small. The pouch has a zippered front pocket and a stretchable neoprene strap that will fit onto most backpack hip belts (as tested on Kelty Redwing, Red Cloud and Lowe Alpine Netherworld packs). This is a nice feature if you like to carry a bottle or two accessible on your hip belt while you hike...but please read on. A 32oz Nalgene Triton or HDPE bottle is a very snug fit in these pouches, making it difficult to reinsert the bottle without taking off your pack. This has… Full review

Forty Below Bottle Boots 1L

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Does a very good job keeping your liquids warm in the winter and cool in the summer—decently thick neoprene. Simple fold-over top and wide hook and loop closure is easy to use with gloves or mitts. Sufficiently compact that they fit easily many backpack bottle pockets. If you sleep out and hike in freezing weather, you have to answer the question of how to keep your drinking water from freezing. Forty Below's neoprene bottle boots are a great solution, unique in many ways.   Most winter bottle… Full review

Hydro Flask Standard Mouth Loop Cap

rated 4 of 5 stars Really good for basic, everyday use. Not as convenient as the sport top. I do recommend using this product as most Hydro Flasks come with this type of cap. Not great for larger Hydro Flasks because it might become too heavy for the loop when full. Very easy to open, but not as great for quick access to water like the Sport Top. I have had two separate Hydro Flasks with this type of lid and one of them has water stuck in the cap that I can't seem to get out and the other one is still in great shape… Full review

Forty Below Bottle Boots 1L

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Forty Below 32 oz / 1 L water bottle parka / boot holds one Hunersdorf Expedition 1 L water bottle or one 32 oz / 1 L Nalgene water bottle. Forty Below Water Bottle Boots / ParkasThis is the yellow 1 L / 32 oz size No zippers—can open with mittens on. But you need to ensure the seams are closed together tightly wen you put the water bottle back in, with the lid on the bottom because the ice forms on the top. With the upside down bottle, any ice that forms is on the bottom not frozen under the… Full review

Platypus Bite Valve Cover

rated 5 of 5 stars Keeps your bite valve clean and sanitary. Potentially prevents you from getting sick on the trail (as I did) when you're far from the trailhead. I was hiking the Northern Traverse in Glacier in September. On the fourth night, at Stoney Indian Lake, I became really sick with a bad case of gastroenteritis. When we arrived at camp, it started to get windy, cold, and wet. I and my two hiking partners set up camp, then walked over to the cooking area for dinner. Curiously, I had no appetite and had to… Full review

Geigerrig Nano Drink Tube

rated 4 of 5 stars The Geigerrig Nano Drink Tube is a tiny, 4mm sized hydration tube that provides a user effortless drinking or water extraction when paired with Geigerrig's pressurized hydration reservoir. Gone are the days of exerting and wasting breath drawing water from a bladder. These two systems work best together when backpacking, day hiking, trail running, and biking. Both the bladder and tube system should fit any pack equipped with a hydration sleeve. Since the Nano Drink Tube works best with Geigerrig's Hydration… Full review

Platypus Bite Valve Cover

rated 3 of 5 stars I am always having to keep pressing it to keep it shut. I was really excited to hear there was a valve cover because mine would always get sand and dirt on it. But I found that the cap does not really stay on and I am always having to keep pressing it to keep it shut. However, it's better than nothing. Full review
