Arc'teryx Men's Gamma MX Hoody

rated 3 of 5 stars Very lackluster performance for the price. It's a good light jacket that is being overhyped. Seriously the glowing reviews for this have to be confirmation bias due to spending so much. It's OK, but doesn't do what a jacket needs to do hardly any better than a decent fleece. Your shoulders will start to get wet after 20 minutes of light rain, the wind will be slowed but even a moderate breeze can be felt, and temperatures below 45 Fahrenheit will leave you shivering if you're not exerting… Full review

The North Face Men's Venture Jacket

rated 1.5 of 5 stars Great rain jacket if you are not moving. 400-foot mountain bike climb in 4.5 miles had me soaking wet under this jacket (outside temp 38 degrees F), with fleece under that and a base layer under that. Head soaked as well. Lousy. Keep seeing very pos review of this technology. Guess I am missing what others are raving about. Good fit. Holds up to rain on 50°F summer rain. Poor wicking performance on 38°F winter day, no rain but cycling hard up incline. Full review

Lowe Alpine Triple Point Ceramic Jacket

rated 0.5 of 5 stars I own three of these TPC jackets. All different styles. All three have failed with the lining flaking off. These are not jackets to count on for long term use. I have a Gortex jacket that I bought 26 years ago. It has lived in my pack in Europe, South America, and Africa. Still my jacket of choice.  The TPC worked, but wetted out after a week on the trail. Lowe Alpine recoated the outside. Now the lining is flaking off, as are the linings of the other two I own. None of these has gotten a tenth… Full review

The North Face Ice Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Phenomenal jacket. Nice jacket. I would compare this jacket to a classic Carhartt coat, but this North Face jacket is even better. Very tough shell material, thick down insulation. Unfortunately I believe the North Face discontinued this jacket. Also I hear a rumor that the North Face took the McMurdo Parka and lightened the outside shell material. Too bad because the North Face and the other overpriced mountaineering companies already make plenty of worthless lightweight down and synthetic fill… Full review

The North Face Men's McMurdo Parka

2010 model was awesome. I tried this parka on in the store many times. It had a very tough/ heavy duty shell material. Unfortunately I heard the 2014/2015 McMurdo Parka, the North Face lightened up the outside shell material. There are extremely few parkas I have found that have this tough of a shell material and are well insulated. Carhartt comes to mind, but Carhartt does not have insulated parkas at 34 inches long (except for the discontinued Kalkaska Parka). Anyway, it is very depressing because… Full review

Marmot Alpinist Climbing Jacket III

rated 5 of 5 stars This jacket has to be the most durable jacket I have ever owned. Marmot keeps replacing any ripped or burnt panel. Sometimes I can forgo a light pack because of the pockets or take a smaller pack. The venting is great. I use the wide cuffs as wind scoops on sunny spring days to cool down. It's nice to know you can use a jacket and not have to baby it. Tear or melt a panel- Marmot fixes it for cheap. I just duct tape the ripped panel until I get back home- and on 2 weeks its back good as new. I just… Full review

Canada Goose Men's Snow Mantra Parka

rated 5 of 5 stars Perfect parka! Just wish it was even much warmer. Where I live, even if it never freezes, I wear my CG Snow Mantra from end of September till April. With two giant mohair sweater. Despite all this, I am never warm enough. So my dream would be a Snow Mantra for minus 100°C, much thicker and with complete fur inside, sleeves included. Maybe once my dream will come true. Patagonia Men's Piton Hybrid Hoody

rated 4 of 5 stars Like wearing super skin. I've owned this for about a year and the first time I put this on in my apartment it felt more luxurious than any other fleece that I'd worn before.  It wasn't as warm as my R1 Hoody, but I wasn't overheating or feeling itchy either (traits that I didn't like about R1).  I later tested it for the first time on a cool morning camp after waking to 40 degree temps and thought... not super warm, but glad that I had it. I've just started wearing this again over the last two… Full review

Patagonia Men's Nano-Air Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars The marketing department at Patagonia says about this jacket, "put it on and leave it on." They're not lying, folks! I picked this up and have been wearing it outdoors ever since to hike in, run in, do yard work in, and hang out drinking coffee. The temps were in the mid 50s to low 60s and the rain was pretty heavy at times and I was comfortable — never overheating. I stayed warm when I slowed down as well. Like all Patagonia clothes, it's made to throw in the wash, which I did, and comes out… Full review
