Haglofs L.I.M. Power Dry Hooded Top

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Lightweight but Pricey Airy Warmth The L.I.M. Power Dry Hooded Top is a very lightweight fleece grid jacket that is suitable for all but the hottest times of year.  It dries faster than any material I've seen, and is very comfortable to hike in.  The grid faces inward and the outer face is smooth, it's thinner than an R1, when held up to the sun you can see through it.  It seems to be durable, it isn't showing signs of pack or any other kind of abrasion since purchased 9 months ago, in fact,… Full review

Berghaus Men's VapourLight Hyper Smock 2.0

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Preliminary review: Not as light as advertised. This is a preliminary review. I'll update it once I've gotten to use it a bit. In the meantime, I thought I'd comment on the weight issue first:  As someone who strives to save weight for backpacking, weight is a primary consideration when shopping for new backpacking gear. Berghaus states a claimed weight of 75g for a men's large on their website and on the product's tag. The men's large the I received weighs 95g without the stuff sack (5g). Irritating. Full review

Haglofs Barrier Pro II Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Lightweight and packable synthetic jacket that is warm for its weight. This jacket weighs just 323 grams (11.4oz). It is obviously not for very cold weather, but it is warm for its weight. On one occasion I was walking in a bitingly cold gale force wind. Where I live the temperature does not go below freezing even in winter, but with windchill taken into account it must have been close to freezing on that occasion. It was certainly cold enough to make me put on my gloves. Yet I felt neither the… Full review

Outdoor Research Transcendent Hoody

rated 5 of 5 stars Outdoor Research is great for returns, even if it's your fault. Warm and comfortable. Zipper works great. With the first Transcendent Hoody I hiked the Bonds last winter and was in very strong winds getting blown over and falling in spruce traps. I couldn't change jackets and ripped the jacket a couple times. I called OR told them this story and asked for a place in N.H. that could repair the rips. The customer service rep said I can do better than that, give me your address and size we'll send… Full review

Marmot Men's Leadville Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars I haven't worn this out in the mountains yet, so this will be on fit and feel. I'm not familiar with soft shell jackets but I wanted one for the three seasons, wind and light rain. I weigh 160lbs. 5'10" jacket size: Medium I like the fit, the arms are long enough so if I'm stretching for that next hold while climbing my jacket sleeves don't ride up my arm and the torso length of the jacket covers the iliac crest. Mammut Masao Jacket

rated 0.5 of 5 stars I bought this jacket to repair another jacket that failed. On this jacket the tapes completely detached at the hood and lapels area within the 2-year warranty period. Mammut refused to honour their warranty. Rubbish, save your money. Full review

Montane Anti-Freeze 2.0 Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars Medium weight down jacket that offers a good balance between warmth and portability. This jacket weighs about 550g (19oz) in size large. It contains 200 grams (7oz) of 650+ fill power down encased in a 50 denier polyester shell. By way of comparison, the Rab Cirque — another down jacket of roughly similar overall weight — has 260g (9oz) of insulation encased in a 30 denier shell. The Montane is therefore not as warm, but is made of tougher outer material.   The Montane Anti-Freeze 2.0 has… Full review

Arc'teryx Men's Beta LT Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars Ultra light, fairly tough, full coverage. I always snubbed my nose at new trends. So when Arc'teryx arrived on the scene I was floored by the price. When my OR shell gave out prematurely I wanted something with Gortex Pro and came across this shell at a price I could live with. After wearing it for a year as a summer rain coat and a winter protective shell it has held up very well. When you're doing everything from boony crashing to sliding down avalanche slopes, it's done everything that was expected. Full review

Patagonia Women's Down Sweater

rated 5 of 5 stars Feels nice next to my skin and is light weight; great for layering.  I purchased the jacket to wear in the cool winter months in Arizona.  It provides warmth without bulk and can easily be worn over a fleece if necessary.  The temps in Arizona can dip greatly once one sun sets.  Since I am 5'3" 120 pounds with an athletic build, I found the xs fit well with just a tee shirt.  After one year,  I purchased a small to wear with fleece.  The arm length is never a problem for me, but the shoulders… Full review
