Mountain Hardwear Minalist Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Minalist Jacket incorporates the latest Dry Q Elite fabric ,which keeps you dry inside. Asymmetric full length zipper and short expansion zipper keeps the chin protected from abrasion with enough room for a baklava. Best use for resort or back country skiing. Highly recommended. Overall view with left chin zipper open Showing internal hood pulls running outside into hood; also chamois lined chin flap. Adjusters are hidden in the hood at the top of the collar.  You adjust by pinching the adjuster… Full review

The North Face Fuse Uno Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars The North Face Fuseform Uno is a lightweight (12oz), 3-layer HyVent Alpha, alpine designed shell which boasts an industry changing innovation dubbed FuseForm. In brief, it allows for different weights of a material to be woven into a single fabric without the use of seams or stitching. This single piece is then folded, paper airplane style, into a jacket. The fit, and strategic added durability, in the upper torso, hood and shoulders are all major pros, while there are some omissions such as pit… Full review

The North Face Women's Apex Bionic Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars I couldn't decide between TNF Apex Bionic Jacket and TNF Denali. I purchased both and the Apex won out hands down. I just bought this jacket at the same time as I purchased the Denali and wore them both intermittently trying to decide which to keep. The Apex won out. The Denali, although quite warm and functional, was bulky in comparison to the mid-layer Apex. I was able to wear both a lightweight Columbia fleece jacket and a base TNF shell underneath to keep me extremely warm. The difference in… Full review

Patagonia Women's Nano-Air Hoody

rated 4 of 5 stars If you are a serious four-season outdoor junkie, consider using this jacket. It hits a perfect sweet spot: (from the company) “From trailhead to summit and back, the Nano-Air Hoody sets a new standard for technical insulation, merging the comfort and breathability of open fleece with the protection and warmth of a puffy.” Honestly, I put this jacket on, and hardly have taken it off since I received it for testing. This jacket is the most comfortable and versatile garment I have ever worn. And… Full review

MontBell EX Light Down Anorak

rated 4.5 of 5 stars While simple in design and weighs little, the Mont-bell Down Anorak is unexpectedly warm when needed. The jacket packs down small, taking up minimal space and then fluffs up quickly to regain loft when you are ready for it. Its light weight and small packed size make it a great addition for a weight-conscious hiker looking to reduce what they carry. Background: The anorak was used during the fall and early winter for hikes, camping trips and walks from the coast to the desert country of eastern… Full review

Ibex Men's Nomad Full Zip Hoody

rated 4 of 5 stars Love that cozy merino and great fit, but zipper really sucks. I love merino wool hoodies.  I have an Ibex Nomad, a Smartwool Phd, a Minus33 Kodiak, and an Ibex Aire.  My favorites are the Ibex Nomad and the Ibex Aire.  I haven't come across an Icebeaker model that suits me at a decent price point (all my others are ebay or sale purchases). Each has its own particular use. For backpacking it has to be the Nomad. I particularly enjoy the non-itchy, warm, comfy feel of the brushed merino wool close… Full review

The North Face Men's Mountain Guide Jacket

rated 2 of 5 stars Would not buy a North Face jacket again following this experience. Bought this jacket from a North Face dealer online. Thought it was a great deal at the time: <300$. Would definitely not buy a North Face jacket again following this experience. North Face warranty is not what it used to be, and surprise surprise neither is the quality :( Much better quality available from Patagonia or Arc'teryx or at least comparable quality from less expensive brands. Ibex Men's Nomad Full Zip Hoody

rated 4 of 5 stars A warm and low-profile insulating layer for active pursuits. It has the benefits of the warmth, versatility, and odor resistance of merino wool, for those looking for an all-natural mid-insulating layer that can deal with moisture. (It does not wick moisture as well as synthetics, though). The hood and other features are welcome in this jacket. Fit might be an issue for some. This runs narrow and can be at risk of shrinkage after laundering. You can thank Ibex for this 100% merino full-zip hoody. Full review

Adidas Terrex Swift Climaheat Frost Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars An insulated jacket that isn’t afraid of getting a little wet. Designed and fitted for active use this hooded jacket uses a blend of synthetic insulation and hydrophobic treated down which maintains loft even when soaked through and dries reasonably well. It packs down nicely and would work well as a belay jacket or for active wear in lower temps. At first glance I was prepared to be underwhelmed by the Adidas Outdoors Terrex Swift Climaheat Frost Jacket as it looked a bit more of a fashionable… Full review
