Patagonia Men's Houdini Jacket

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Well constructed, lightweight and does keep the wind out. Not so good if it gets very wet but light mist or rain it works fine. Well constructed, very light and easily packable. Runs true to size. I'm about 5'11" 190lbs and the large is just right. Seems very reistant for overall wear. All in all a good light jacket Full review

Patagonia Men's R4 Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Plush, good looking, comfortable, warm, and windproof. What more could you want in a fleece jacket? I've had my R4 for about 12 years. It has been put through the ringer. It is in every way still as plush, warm, and durable as the day I got it. It is inherently a good looking jacket. Perfect for wearing around town on cold days. I do not always take it on backpacking trips. It does not pack or compress well and it takes up considerable volume in a pack. But in the deepest winter when I know it's… Full review

Eddie Bauer Men's MicroTherm StormDown Jacket

rated 2.5 of 5 stars A layering piece for anyone that wants to shave some weight by not carrying a fleece midlayer. This could replace a fleece, but will not move moisture away from you like a fleece. I had this jacket twice. The first one I had to use the excellent EB warranty after two months because the very end of the zipper tab broke, rendering my zipper useless. It is lightweight plastic instead of metal. This shaves weight but sacrifices durability.  The next one that I had I used for about a week. The reason… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Men's Thermostatic Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Very light mid-layer jacket for active outdoors use. Mountain Hardwear recommends it for climbing and hiking. Can also be used as a standalone jacket, provided the conditions permit and you have a good base layer. I bought it for snowshoeing and hiking. Fit & Comfort: The fit is standard. I'm 5'9" and about 190 pounds and a large allows me to wear a fleece underneath. I like the more ample fit. It's a very, very comfy jacket. If in doubt, I would err on getting a smaller size if sleeve size… Full review

Therm-a-Rest Honcho Poncho

rated 4 of 5 stars The Therm-a-rest Honcho Poncho is an indulgent piece of gear that can shed rain and help keep you warm as a garment or convert into a blanket for more supine endeavors. It is ideal as a wrap for car camping and sporting events or as a throw while lounging at home, but definitely a questionable choice of luxury for backpackers owing to its bulk (16 x 12 x 5 in./ 40.6 x 30.5 x 12.7 cm ) and weight (28 oz/ 794g). Design and Materials: The Poncho Goes Technical The Honcho Poncho is essentially a light,… Full review

Eddie Bauer Men's Superior Down Parka

rated 5 of 5 stars Extremely warm, high quality, luxurious parka, at an amazing price. This is the best parka I have ever owned. I was looking for an Air Force Parka, and it was hard to find an actual jacket rather than a copy. So I started looking for alternatives, as I did not wish to spend $1000 for a Canada Goose parka. I have had it for a few weeks, and it is windproof, water beads on the surface like a freshly waxed car, and it is comfortable in below zero windchills. I'm still discovering many of the features. Marmot Men's PreCip Jacket

rated 4 of 5 stars Lightweight, cost effective rain shell. I picked up the Marmot Precip because I needed a lightweight and packable waterproof shell that wouldn't break the bank. I use it for everything from around town when it's raining, summer backpack trips in the High Sierra and Cascades, AND climbing trips. I knew from previous reviews that the jacket was not the most breathable, however the pit zips allow me to regulate my temperature during exertion. If I pay attention to my level of exertion and open the… Full review

Montane Hi-Q Luxe Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars This jacket screams PERFORMANCE!!! The Hi-Q Luxe Jacket is a highly water resistant/windproof mid-weight synthetic jacket that continues to perform when wet, yet still has the positive attributes of a goose down jacket. PrimaLoft Gold Luxe synthetic fill is much lighter and more compressible than previously available synthetic fills. Along with a redesigned cuff/sleeve configuration, this jacket excels with temperature regulation, making it an ideal three-season piece of gear for hikers, backpackers,… Full review

Fjallraven Yupik Parka

rated 2 of 5 stars This jacket lasted two months. This jacket lasted two months. I used it nearly every day for things ranging from ski practice to walking to class. I bought it specifically for the wind and cold that I experience nearly daily during the winter. It was great. Unfortunately after a very wet race weekend it needed a wash and dry. After going through the drier (tumble dry low) the hood came out melted. This is strange considering my speed suit was also in there with it, that being a much more heat sensitive… Full review
