Loki Men's Mountain Hoodie

rated 3 of 5 stars Great ideas (built-in balaklava and mitts) and could be a game changer, but the quality is not there yet. I love the design of the hoodie. Adding a face mask and mitts to the existing jacket is very useful. I am always leaving the house underdressed for the weather and the Loki addresses this very well. Many times I go to work and when I come out my car is covered in snow and ice. I end up scraping off the build up with bare hands and freeze; the mitts solve that. Also, when I go cross-country skiing… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Men's Exposure II Parka

rated 3 of 5 stars Great waterproofing and an overall good shell, but after less than six months one of the chest zippers ripped. Not something you expect when you pay $280 for a shell. REI took it back and gave me store credit, but by then the shell was out of stock. So, you either pay more for the Arc'teryx shell or buy a store brand. Disappointed in the quality overall. Poor workmanship. Expected more for the price.  Full review

Columbia Women's Diamond 890 TurboDown Hooded Jacket

rated 1.5 of 5 stars Dark feathers are visible, look like dirty spots. Called Columbia, they said this is not defect so no return. Don't recommend. Full review

Stoic Vaporshell 3L Anorak

rated 4 of 5 stars Great wp/b shell, usually at an affordable price Fit & Comfort: I purchased a medium, my typical size, which I found to be a bit on the slim side and a little shorter than I would have expected, the sleeves are more than adequate length for me. I've worn it comfortably in the rain and in windy weather. It is an effort to slip on due to the slim fit and half zipper. Unzipping the side zipper makes getting it on and off easier, though. Adjustability: There is a draw cord around the waist and in… Full review

Sherpa Adventure Gear Shankar Belay Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Super light, super warm, super awesome. I'm 5'7" 140 lbs. Small is a snug fit, medium leaves me room to layer in super cold weather. I've had this for two winters now. I wear this jacket every day in the bitter Canadian cold. Man, I'm laughing at everybody else in those bulky/expensive Canada Goose jackets. I'm thoroughly impressed with the Primaloft insulation, pound/pound it is the warmest jacket I own.  Thunder Bay, Ontario, is really cold in the winter, with my Patagonia R3 sweater (300wt fleece)… Full review

Patagonia Men's Alpine Houdini

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Hello, backpackers. I fully agree with the last review. I would just add one important thing:  I bought it and was very satisfied and with the nice light blue color too. However I noticed that when tightening the back hood elastic it is OK on the top of the head, but the cheeks and chin are widely open to the rain that comes in. There are no elastics going up to the zip that tightens around the face. That's why I give 3.5 stars. Full review

Outdoor Research Men's Helium II Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Now my go-to trail running and tramping jacket. A great performer. This is a great jacket. I'm 6'3" and 110kgs (242 lbs). Naturally I wear the xl.  It is long enough in the arms and still allows some room in the body. The hood fits well and has a handy pull cord at the back to ensure a good fit. It's a functional garment. It has one not particularly useful pocket at the chest and another internal pocket which doubles as the stuff sack. It is designed to be minimalist and it works perfectly for… Full review

The North Face Women's McMurdo Parka

rated 3 of 5 stars I also bought in Covent Garden after getting caught in rain and freezing. They didn't have my size so got next size up to layer underneath. I am from Queensland and am cold if it's 20 degrees Celsius. I only wore a t-shirt underneath after having toured UK with three thermals and cardigan. Yes, the hood's spacious, but length was great. Just wish I'd got a size down as I look like the Michelin Man! Did the job for two weeks in January in London. Full review

Sierra Designs Elite Cagoule Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Simple, lightweight, packable, and good ventilation. I have yet to find any real negative to the Elite Cagoule (6.5 oz.). It is lightweight, without zippers or pockets. The unique design allows for excellent air flow through the torso, as well as the upper legs and crotch when paired with the Sierra Designs Elite Chaps. The Cagoule also gives you quick access to pants and shirt pockets. If you are looking for lightweight rain wear that works hard at keeping you dry inside and out, check the Cagoule… Full review
