Marmot Thunder Bay Parka

rated 5 of 5 stars Best Parka. Thank you, Marmot! Pros: WARMTH! Let me keep it simple, in -40 Celsius w/ wind-chill, you won't complain about the weather, as long as you put on the hoody and a good scarf, and good gloves of course. Sometime when it's super windy like 30KM/h wind, you do feel the wind around the elbow a little, but this will keep you warm for sure! QUALITY! Top new material, zippers are great, I love the velcros quality. The inside heat reflecting material is definitely my favorite! The outer membrane… Full review

Columbia Men's Pour Osity Stretch Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars Very light and breathable jacket. A fantastic alternative to a Gore jacket. This is a fantastic lightweight jacket. Quite durable feeling and the fit is excellent (6'2", 185lbs, Medium does it). Didn't even notice it was raining out today. It layers perfectly with TurboDown 650, and I'm excited to wear the combo next winter! Full review

Arc'teryx Men's Atom LT Hoody

rated 4 of 5 stars Not the warmest jacket, but breathable, weather resistant, light, and comfortable. The fit is a little on the small side, but this would suit a climber who wants as little baggy material around a harness as possible. Otherwise you might want to size up. I went for a large and it's spot on for me (5'11", 38" chest). Unlike some belay style jackets the hood is adjustable with a cinch cord at the back. However, this is not a belay jacket...read on. Weather resistance is very good for a non-waterproof… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Men's Desna Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Excellent light fleece for midlayer insulation when it's cold and windy or outer layer when it's not windy. Works well for what it's designed for. I've had this fleece for going on three years now and use it on a regular basis for everything from peak bagging to xc skiing to mountain biking to dog walking. All in Alaska, at temps from +50°F (outer layer for anything other than rain) to -45°F (mid layer while xc skiing). I think the other reviewer might have misunderstood the purpose of this jacket… Full review

Luke's Ultralite Silnylon Rain Shell

rated 4 of 5 stars A superb, truly waterproof and lightweight rain jacket. I had Luke add two hand pockets, adjustable wrist cuffs, and pit zips for venting and it still weighs only 5.1 ounces and stuffs into the stuff sack provided (or one of the pockets). I've owned a couple different silnylon rain jackets over the years, but they all had two weaknesses that caused me to not wear them very much: condensation (lack of venting) and no hand pockets. I didn't like sacrificing comfort and convenience for what I felt… Full review

Tamagear Saddleback Jacket

rated 3 of 5 stars The Tamagear Saddleback Jacket performs very well in many situations. The jacket can function well as a mid-layer or outer layer. It sports a stylish look and comfortable fit. This jacket is best suited for use in high activity cool weather endeavors. The Tamagear Saddleback Jacket is best suited for use in high activity cool weather endeavors. It is not adequately warm for sedentary pursuits in cold weather. When your activity level is high, and you need great ventilation, you will stay dry wearing… Full review

Arc'teryx Men's Gamma LT Jacket

rated 5 of 5 stars An ultra-breathable softshell, which provides excellent weather protection. I have had this softshell jacket for several years now, and it is one of the most often used pieces of outdoor clothing in my closet. I wear it cycling to and from work in iffy weather. Snowshoeing on a chilly day. Hiking when it's windy. I find myself reaching for it for most anything outside of full on rain. The jacket fits great without binding or tightness anywhere. A nice and soft fleecy lining on the collar makes it… Full review

Mountain Hardwear Ampato Jacket

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Ampato Jacket is a versatile hardshell using Mountain Hardwear's Dry.Q Elite technology. It's waterproof and durable and holds up well climbing and backpacking. Fabric: The Ampato jacket is a 2-layer shell using Mountain Hardwear's high end Dry.Q Elite technology. The fabric is waterproof and breathable and also durable. I've worn this pack while climbing a dihedral and there was no wear from putting my shoulder and back against the rock as I shimmied my way up the climb. One thing to note,… Full review

Eddie Bauer Men's First Ascent Downlight Sweater

rated 5 of 5 stars The Eddie Bauer First Ascent Downlight Sweater Jacket is fantastic. It's warm and compressible with 800-fill down. It fits well and looks great. After trying multiple light down jackets, this jacket was the clear winner in terms of design, fit and looks.  DESIGN The 800-fill down makes the jacket extremely warm and compresses down to the size of a softball. The shell fabric has a DWR finish making it highly wind and water resistant The jacket can be stuffed into its own pocket Fleece lined pockets… Full review
