To begin, the No Sniveller is a true multi-use piece of gear. Weighing in at only 21 ounces, it lofts to about 2.5 inches of 800 fill down insulation. It can be used as either a top quilt in a hammock or on the ground or as an under quilt in a hammock. The Velcro opening in the center also allows it to be worn as a cape around camp or even under rain gear for extra insulation.

I purchased this piece of gear just as cooler weather was setting in for the year here in the southeastern US. After moving from tent camping to hammock camping, I soon realized that I would need different types of gear than my ground sleeping required. JacksRBetter had multiple solutions to choose from. I chose the No Sniveller as well as the Old Rag Mtn.

When temps are above 35 F, I normally use the No Sniveller as an under quilt. When using their suspension system, installation is a snap taking only a couple of minutes. When used as an underquilt, it lofts up fully and provides enough bottom insulation to keep me warm to at least 25 F. It stays in place and makes for a much better nights rest than on a pad. On warmer nights, the suspension can be loosened to allow more ventilation.

For lows between 15F and 35F, I use the Old Rag Mtn as an underquilt and the No Sniveller as a top quilt. The Velcro on the footbox along with the cinch cord makes warm feet a no brainer. The sides of the hammock hold the top of the quilt in place around my shoulders. Headgear or one of JacksRBetter's down hoods are required to keep your head warm at these temps.

The head opening has let me leave a bulky down jacket out of my pack. In camp, I put the No Sniveller on under my shell jacket. The combination keeps me warm well into single digits.

The No Sniveller does take some care in using as does with any lightweight down gear.

On top of all these features, the product is made well in Virginia. The Jacks are great about answering email AND the phone. The quality of the product is outstanding as well as innovative. I have bought other gear from them, and I certainly will in the future.
