Eddyline Sea Star

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Light, fast, long boat with ample storage and big-sea capabilities. I purchased this boat used 5-6 years ago because I needed something faster and lighter for a few competitive endeavors such as Sea to Summit (12 miles paddling upstream in the tidal Piscataqua River from its mouth at the Atlantic Ocean, 93 miles biking, and a 8.5 mile run/hike to the top of Mount Washington 6288ft above the starting line). This boat is very fast, but also much more versatile than I originally expected, with lots… Full review

Current Designs Sirocco

rated 3 of 5 stars Stable in waves and cross chop. I have been in worse, imagine there are better. The kayak is smooth to reach its hull speed 4.5 mph or so then hits the wall pretty hard, which can take some of the fun out of riding breaking waves. The boat has a tendency to stick rather than glide. Splashes up wind in a chop, surprising me with a face washing now and then. Turns well in and about the rocks. Wanders a bit in open waters, deploying the skeg helps. The skeg control works amazing well for being over… Full review

Dagger Axis 12

rated 3.5 of 5 stars The Dagger Axis 12 is my first kayak. Not the first I've ever paddled, but the first I've ever owned. I've got more background with canoeing. Ease of Use  The Dagger Axis 12 is pretty easy to get right into and use. But the seat is highly customizable, so you might want to spend a little time on dry land getting that dialed in before you take it out on the water. Some adjustment on the water is possible, but not convenient. There are also adjustable foot pegs which I've found a little easier to… Full review

Wilderness Systems Pungo 120 Ultralite

rated 3 of 5 stars Nice lightweight kayak. Roomy large cockpit. Defect in manufacturing, screws at handles cause cracking and eventual breakage of material. At first I loved this kayak, but after just a few uses, I noticed the handles starting to crack around the screw. This was under warranty, I've been waiting for over three months for a replacement with no delivery date yet to be seen. Now I have a hole in my kayak and can not use it. The material is very flimsy. If you fall out of the kayak and try to climb back… Full review

NRS MaverIK II

rated 5 of 5 stars I use this kayak five days a week all summer long. I can't say enough good things about this boat! Sturdy, durable, comfortable, light, easy inflation, and on and on. I will admit it is on the expensive side, but I guarantee you are buying a kayak that will probably still be in good working order long after you have passed on. Full review

Nigel Dennis Kayaks Romany Surf

rated 5 of 5 stars Great handling, 16 ft. sea kayak for surfing and couple of day trips. The volume of this kayak fits larger people best. I am 6'4" and 210 lbs. It is extremely hard to be comfortable in a pure sea kayak for a large, tall person. Think about those eskimo skin on frame kayaks. There is no way a person of my size would fit.  This kayak is pretty high up there in the performance range, still be a good fit for me and not compromise on performance. Hardest part is finding a kayak that my feet fit into… Full review

Sea Eagle Sport 370

rated 4 of 5 stars Very good for flat water, but challenging for fishing. UPDATE 8/28/16: Took the SE370 down Bear River in Colfax, Calif., for some low key white water. She stood up just fine, bounced off rocks and made the requisite hard turns to avoid bad spills. Came to a screeching halt at one point when we didn't clear a big rock. The kayak stopped dead, I went flying forward, and the seat pulled loose (but didn't leave the boat). I got settled back down, bounced the boat free and I was off again. No damage… Full review

Wilderness Systems Pungo 140

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Love my Pungo 140. THIS awesome kayak should not be listed as a recreational kayak only. It's a cross-over. It's also a touring kayak. To me a touring kayak should be able to hold gear and track well while it carries that gear. Full review

BIC Sport YAKKAir Lite 1

rated 3 of 5 stars After two years of light use, one of the seams in the inflatable floorboard gave way, making the floorboard unusable. I was able to fashion a rigid floorboard out of rigid insulation paneling, and the boat actually tracks better now than it did with the inflatable floorboard. But the failure of that part makes me doubt the quality of all the other parts. Full review
