My Kelty Green River 4 tent has been a great shelter so far! I have spent over two dozen nights in this tent and it has worked very well in the wind and the driving rain! It has always stayed dry and when staked out I have not had any problem even in 40+ m.p.h. winds.

My wife and I love the room and we plan on using this tent for many more trips. It is a great basecamp shelter and that is the way we use it. I purchased a 6’x8’ indoor/outdoor carpet to lie in the tent floor, hey; we are car or truck camping!

Some things to bear in mind, the poles are fiberglass; it is a tent, not a RV. The fiberglass poles are subject to break, I carry strapping tape, and epoxy for on the scene repairs. Yes, two poles have cracked, I have repaired them and they work great now. Kelty’s lifetime warranty as explained to me is one pole will be replaced at their cost during the life of the tent! Yeah, one pole!

There is plenty of ventilation in the tent with the vestibule attached and this is really how the tent is meant to be used. My wife and I can both sit in the vestibule on rainy periods and vestibule is really why I bought this model.

As an earlier reviewer noted the zippers at the entrance are somewhat hard to reach. I love the standup room inside the tent! It makes it really easy to change clothes.

I know they no longer make this tent, but, if you can find one I would recommend it. Also, the new Palisade looks like an improved model from what I can see. I will probably buy one of them when this tent is worn out!

All in all a great design that can be improved upon, but, still is a very good enjoyable design.

My wife and I bought this tent last summer and ended up using it three times. And while the sleeping area did an excellent job keeping us dry during one bad rain storm, we were still disappointed overall. Perhaps because we never were able to see one displayed and didn't foresee what my wife and I consider shortcomings.

Which are as follows: We thought the large screened vestibule would be a great place to sit in case the mosquitoes were really bad, but it appears not enough material was used as we could never get it to seal along the ground (it doesn't have a floor) very well. Thus the mosquitoes still got in.

Also, the rain flaps for the vestibules side screens are on the inside and only tie in a couple of places. No zippers to seal them up good, so that when the wind and rain hit they billow in and let the rain flood the vestibule area.

And, while the door way's flap does have zippers, they extend all the way to the ground on each side so that you find yourself having to almost lay down to both open and close it. This is because its angled pretty good to provide more room in the vestibule, so the zippers are at the bottom of this angle and you really have to get down there to reach them. My wife also didn't like the full rain fly because you can't see out, but that's our fault for not recognizing that before we bought it.

Bottom line is, that I wonder if Kelty recognized these problems, as I see they no longer sell the Green River series, but seem to have replaced it with the Pavilion model, which looks like the same tent. But maybe with some fixes?

Design: three-season dome
Sleeps: 5
Ease of Setup: Definitely a two person job
Weight: 14lbs?
Price Paid: $215

We have owned this tent for 3 years and it had never failed us until this last trip. It is a fairly easy setup for two-people, but a bit of struggle alone. My wife and I, along with our two black labs, have enjoyed the space inside. Sleeps 2 adults and 2 adult dogs comfortably. The wife likes the fact that your able to stand up inside the tent, which makes dressing for the day much easier. We normally store our camping equipment and coolers under the vestibule, which is one of the largest available.

The one downside that we noticed early on was the fact that the material is quite thin. Although, with the cover on you're well protected from the elements. Within the first 3 uses, the floor had multiple small tears, even while using a heavy duty tarp underneath the tent. This last trip the main zipper failed and now I am back shopping for new tent with hopefully a longer life.

It was a good run!

Sleeps: 4
Ease of Setup: Two-person set-up
Weight: 20lbs

This is a wonderful tent for the outdoorsman. Very spacious living area. The vestibule has lots of room for storage. I have been using this tent for three years.

My set up is extra large cot, 4x2 table and chair. Holds in heat well for those cold days in the mountains, but it holds in the heat on a warm day when you want it to be cooler.

Only cons to mention; setting up tent by yourself isn't the easiest, the floor isn't very thick, front door of living quarters doesn't have a privacy cover. My buddies are always kidding me that I live in luxury, all that is missing is a TV with remote.

Design: three season freestanding dome with vestibule
Sleeps: 4
Ease of Setup: On a scale of 10 I'd put it at a 6 for ease of set-up. The 9x9 main tent isn't too hard at all, the problems arise when adding the vestibule. The pole hole is the smallest I've ever dealt with, probably 30% of total set up is this one pole.
Weight: 22 lbs.

This is a great tent. Lightweight and spacious. The floor material seems a little thin. I would be afraid to setup over rocky or uneven terrain. Setup was easy, even for one person.
