Kelty Orbit 15

rated 4.5 of 5 stars
photo: Kelty Orbit 15 daypack (under 35l)

Just bought it last week and took it up Camels Hump in VT. It has lots of nice little features (ice ax loop, rain cover), but the two best for a small pack are that 1) it has the frame that keeps it off your back and 2) the waist pads (not the belts themselves) are wide and therefore comfortable.

Pros

  • It's off your back.
  • Zippers go down both sides most of the way.
  • Built in rain cover, ice ax loop, two bottle holders.
  • Small storage compartment up top for things you immediately need.

Cons

  • It's one complete compartment (top loading).
  • Depending on the bladder you use, could be awkward getting one in.
