Helle Mandra

rated 4 of 5 stars The Mândra is a small and relatively light knife suitable for belt or neck carry. Made of quality materials, it is a perfect companion blade for a larger camp knife or an option with Old World appeal for a backpacker or outdoors enthusiast seeking fixed blade utility for modest chores. It has a gorgeous design that was executed with minor cosmetic imperfections. Introduction The Mândra (which means “proud” in Romanian) is a small fixed blade knife produced by Helle, a Norwegian knife maker founded… Full review

Morakniv Mora Pro C

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Can't beat Mora with price and especially quality. All you need for survival, camping. Buying this knife for 12 EUR was one of my best deals and decisions. I thought between this and the stainless version (PRO S) and decided on this due to it is easier to sharpen it. Wasn't wrong a tiny bit and after using it for a year (not too extensively) I must say it is still very sharp like it was when it was new. Really I can say much more about this great tool, but I am bit lazy so it's all for now. :-) Full review

Leatherman Wave

rated 5 of 5 stars Leatherman hits a home run with its New WAVE Multi-Tool. Durability, reliability, and strength wrapped up in a small handheld tool. The New Wave by Leatherman is a great choice to keep on your belt or backpack, for all your outdoor adventures. My kids gave me an Original Leatherman multi-tool back in '91 and it has remained an integral piece of my duty rig ever since. Most find it hard to believe that old leather pouch has hung in there all these years, yet after nearly three decades of rugged use,… Full review

Leatherman Signal

rated 5 of 5 stars I was given this product by The Dyrt to review. This is the perfect multi-tool to take with you hiking or camping. It is well made and is designed to replace much more bulky camping/hiking tools. As a Dyrt Ranger occasionally I am given products to try and review. On a recent camping trip we tried out the Leatherman Signal. This is Leatherman’s gift to campers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts. It has 19 different tools on it.  My husband has been carrying this multi-tool for about two weeks… Full review

Leatherman Surge

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The Surge is everything-in-one with its only limit being your own creativity. It's on the heavier side, but it won't fail you when you're out in the backcountry and need it the most. I brought the Surge backpacking in the Manistee National Forest as a Ranger (gear tester) from The Dyrt. I found the design and features of the Surge to be incredibly intuitive and easily mastered. This tool does catch some slack for being on the heavier side, but the weight directly translates to sturdiness and versatility. Stihl Pro Splitting Hatchet

rated 4 of 5 stars Extremely high quality base camp tool for processing wood. The STIHL Pro Splitting Hatchet features a premium ash handle, oversized neck, and a drop-forged steel head. The hatchet measures 19.75" with a 2.75 lb. cutting head. I am a Natural Disaster First Responder as well as a SAR tech. I am a chainsaw instructor and was looking for a more compact yet heavy axe mainly for driving felling wedges with occasional chopping   This is worn on my belt. I also wanted to use this tool at base camp for… Full review

Hyken Knives Bushcrafter

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Well-contoured micarta slabs pinned to a 5/32-inch thick block of CPM 154 steel is a pretty good start to a fixed-blade bushcraft knife. Incorporating a slight handle swell, a convexed scandi grind, and an unobtrusive choil can make it a great knife. Knowing just where to put the balance point and how to proportion the blade to the handle ensures it’s a great knife. A perfectly-fitted bridle leather sheath is just icing on the cake. Best For: Well it’s made for the bushcrafting crowd, isn’t… Full review

Leatherman Sidekick

rated 5 of 5 stars The Leatherman Sidekick is an awesome multi tool with sharp knives/saws. It is great for camping since you can saw wood for fires, screw things in, and lots more. The Leatherman Sidekick is a great heavy duty multi tool. It is constantly easy to use. All you have to do is open it and pull out the tool you need. One great thing about this particular tool it that the saw is very sharp. It is very well made having thick tools. It really hasn't changed that much only the knives and saws getting a little… Full review

Gerber FAST Draw

rated 3.5 of 5 stars This is a good quality for the price knife that has the added benefit of an assist feature that really helps with one-handed opening of the knife. I have been carrying a Gerber Fast Draw knife daily for over the last ten years and have really grown to like it due to the assist feature and that it performs well given its low cost. For most of backpacking and hiking activities I generally don't carry this knife due to its weight, which is around 3.4 ounces, but for all my other waking hours I always… Full review
