La Sportiva Hi5 Ski
Where to Buy
Here's what other sites are saying:
La Sportiva's Hi5 Ski is a lightweight fat ski that holds an edge and carves deep trenches all over the mountain. This ski excels at both AT and Tele. The rocker tip keeps you on top of deep powder and wind affected crud.
White smoke or manky goo, the La Sportiva Hi5 ski is made for skinning and ripping in the backcountry snows. Super light and a rugged build for the demands of skinning, 105 waist and huge tip rocker for stability and smoothness on the way back down. And the very bright green color will look good in the ego pics, as well. Fall 12 (winter 12/13) cosmetics Super light and a rugged build for the demands of skinning, 105 waist and huge tip rocker for stability and smoothness on the way back down Very bright green color will look good in the ego pics as well Flat tails are easy to plunge into firm snow when ski mountaineering and useful for isolating Rutsch blocks in snow pits Tip rocker: 426 mm - 178 cm, 450 mm - 188cm
It's easier to wake up at 4am when you know that it dumped 2 feet last night, and it's even less of a chore when you know it's going to be smooth sailing all the way up to your line and down through the fresh with the pow-crushing shape of the La Sportiva Hi5. Without giving up La Sportiva's traditional lightweight and touring sensibility (it has the same poppy, lightweight Karuba paulownia wood core as Sportiva's rando-racing legend the RSR), the Hi5 features a big ol' Hi-Rise early-rise shovel that floats through the deepest powder you'll be able to find, and has traditional camber underfoot to keep it edgy when you encounter sketchy hardpack during your tour. Since it's a touring ski, the Hi5 places a premium on lightness, and so forgoes metal in favor of dual laminates: a tri-directional fiberglass layer and a bi-directional carbon/fiberglass mat keep things plenty stiff enough to ski hard in variable conditions, without the inconvenience of heavy, spirit-crushing metal layers. There are also rubber reinforcements in the tips, tails, and edges, to dampen vibrations for a smoother, more comfortable ride. ABS thermoplastic sidewalls and 1.8mm steel edges can take a beating (even though you'll never ever ever hit a rock), and the holes in the tips and tails accept pre-cut La Sportiva skins to save you some hassle on the skinner and give you more time to float through creamy pow.
Make your way through the resort and out into the backcountry to hit some pure powder runs on La Sportiva's Hi5 Ski. Breathe easy since the Karuba wood core is FSC environmentally certified & constructed without the use of toxic chemicals. Traditional camber underfoot, rocker at the tip, and a flat tail all mean that you have a blast in deep pow, keeping it real anywhere on the mountain, plus, this fatty holds an edge, carving deep lines all over the steeps so when you get to the bottom, you & your friends will be throwin' high fives, dreaming of tomorrow's run.
