It works well.

Pros

  • Well made
  • Rigid

Cons

  • Minor quality issues
  • I don't need all the parts

My camping style took a turn last winter. After years of backpacking and eating out of a lightweight pot I became a scout leader doing more car camping, so I wanted a new mess kit.

The top plate and the bottom bowl snap securely together, so when we put lunches in day packs mine does not get crushed. So far I haven't had any need to use the two storage containers or the cutting board. I leave them at home.

The cup is small and I tend to just use my water bottle. The fork/knife/spoon multi-utensil works better than expected, just once you use one end you get food on your hands when you try and use the other end.

I bought two of these and both had a manufacturing flaw in the silicon rubber band that can be used to secure the kit closed. Both had a flaw in the same spot. An email to the company yielded a new part without any evidence of the flaw. It might have been one batch that had issues.
