Nebo Tools Redline

rated 3.5 of 5 stars Really bright, well-made, durable. Great for a weekend outing or a tent-camping family. I wouldn't recommend it for a lightweight junky, but it definitely gets the job done. This is a great looking flashlight. Stainless steel construction is hefty in the hand, not like the cheapo plastic lights that I also have. The beam can be focused from a spot to a broad wash of light, perfect for those really, really dark nights. And it has an SOS and a strobe setting—hopefully you never need those!! It takes… Full review

UCO Clarus

rated 4 of 5 stars Reliable and convenient lantern/flashlight combo. A great value for any backpacker. The UCO Clarus is a convenient little lantern/flashlight. When collapsed it focuses the beam out the front lens for use as a flashlight. When expanded it allows the light to shine out the sides of the frosted globe for use as a lantern. It's powered by 3 AAA batteries and has a high, medium and low brightness level and a strobe mode. It is rugged and water-resistant. This is a great little lantern to hang around… Full review

Petzl Tikka+

rated 4.5 of 5 stars The ability to leave batteries behind and have a consistent amount of light with an accurate battery read is invaluable. Recent models of this headlamp have been upgraded to have a lower profile and more balanced design. The price for the Core rechargeable battery addition to access its best features is a bit of a detraction. Regardless, it's a reliable, bright, lightweight headlamp and it's nice to have the option. The settings are also programmable, to keep track of the amount of light over… Full review

LuminAID Packlite 12

rated 5 of 5 stars This was hands down the coolest piece in my pack: Super compact, weighing almost nothing, low price, and so much fun to use! I've heard tell of a new model coming soon with a micro USB to charge devices and a more accurate battery indicator. Those improvements would be swell, but this gadget is awesome as it is. Bring it to some hot springs after dark, send it floating with the "Spectra" color gradation model, and prepare to be amazed. Perfect amount of ambient light and I've seen people hiking… Full review

Black Diamond Icon Polar

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Been using the 200 lumens edition. Great balance between battery life and brightness. Headlamp is best for usage in cold weather—even during the spring and fall. Unless one is needing a floodlamp to light up the whole woods, this will do for most every backpacker. I've been using the 200 lumens edition. I got it originally because I was tired of all other types of lights being either dim and having a low battery life or bright with no battery life. I would highly recommend this headlamp. The separate… Full review

Ledlenser MH10

rated 5 of 5 stars Great headlamp for camping. It is very powerful lighting several meters around you. It includes a red and green lense filters for observing the wildlife. Has a long battery life. The light does get a little warm and the battery makes it a touch heavier than cheaper headlamps, but the quality is worth the tradeoff. As a member of another website I sometimes get items to review. I received the MH10 and took it out to the Purtis Creek State Park. Once the sun went down, I fired it up and had a full… Full review

UCO Micro Candle Lantern

rated 0.5 of 5 stars I like candlelights for the coziness, but both of the ones I had caught fire with a 5" large flame standing from the lantern. Luckily I caught the fire in time (both times). My thinking is that it was because I used them inside and the lack of wind makes them overheat. Full review

Ultimate Survival Technologies Pico Lantern

rated 4 of 5 stars Light-enough, bright-enough >120 lumen, four AA battery-powered hanging mini-lantern. Get it only if it's cheap. It's a water-resistant, shock-resistant, sturdy, compact, cheap (I got it for $10 from GearTrade.com + shipping) three-mode, battery-powered hanging lantern. It's a good light for what it is. It's great for camping, I routinely use it walking around my house looking for our dogs off sniffing game where I live in the mountains and it's great at throwing out a nice even aura of light… Full review

Ozark Trail Propane Lantern

rated 0.5 of 5 stars Bad on and off valve. After lighting the lantern, I could not turn the lantern off. Dangerous Full review
