BioLite PowerLight Mini

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Conclusions: The BioLite Powerlight Mini provides reasonable light for use around camp, with the additional benefit of recharge capacity for a cell phone, inReach, handheld GPSR, or small camera, and at a reasonable price. It is readily recharged with a small solar panel, making a total of just over a pound, which is reasonable for a backpacking trip. Heavy use as a night or hiking light or as a recharging source for frequent cell phone or inReach tracking use may require extra backup battery storage… Full review

Black Diamond Cosmo

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Bright enough for night hiking. Could use some padding against the forehead. REI recently put this on sale, and I snagged one because my old Black Diamond kept turning on by itself in my pack. This one does not have that problem because the on/off switch is recessed and protects from accidental activation.  I haven't measured, but I recently did some hiking on the AT in the darkness as I left camp at 5:30 a.m. I could see just fine with this headlamp.  I have used it liberally for 6 nights on… Full review

Princeton Tec Byte

rated 1.5 of 5 stars NO value if the batteries continue to die. I found this collection of reviews while searching for battery usage problems I've experience with the Byte. I like its size and the fact it only uses two AAA batteries, but none of these advantages matter if the light is always dead when I go to use it. I often store the light in a drawer for weeks until needing it again. Every time I find the batteries have died. I've also tried removing the batteries when not in use, but this is a hassle, and then I'm… Full review

Goal Zero Light-A-Life Mini USB Light

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a brand new mini light by Goal Zero and I love it!! It is USB rechargeable and you can buy colored domes to make the light all different colors! It's lightweight and super bright—perfect for a dome light in my tent. I used to bring a different one that had batteries, but I like this better because I can recharge it with my Goal Zero solar chargers. Super bright shown here with green dome on the camera didn't pick up the cool green color. The green and the blue are my favorite. This new… Full review

Goal Zero Nomad 7 Solar Panel

rated 4 of 5 stars For long trips this is great to have to charge all your gear! Not too big and easily fits on back of pack while hiking. I bought this as a set two years ago From REI online. It came with the Nomad 7' Torch 250, Rock Out 2 rechargeable speaker, and Guide 10 Plus Battery Pack. The set was $149.99 + tax  but definitely worth it. This was one of my best purchases because I actually use all of it. The solar panel is my least used item. I fully charge the torch and the battery pack before I leave and… Full review

Goal Zero Torch 250 Flashlight

rated 5 of 5 stars This is a lifesaver out in the wilderness! I have never hiked without it. Long battery life and solar charger with capability of charging all your backcountry gear from cameras, GPS, headlamps, etc. This one piece of equipment is always in my backpack! Seen here used as plug in for the mini light, also from Goal Zero I have brought this on every thru hike and have not been disappointed. The product speaks for itself. A must--have item on a long thru hike or even a short camping trip. It has saved… Full review

Princeton Tec Sync

rated 3 of 5 stars An average headlamp that runs well, is easy to operate, and features a good range of motion. A few flaws, but for the price, it's a serviceable option for campsite or tent usage. Conditions:I purchased this headlamp nearly one year ago, based on its low price and a friend’s recommendation. Nearly all of its use has been in cool to warm temperatures (40-85°F), with minimal exposure to freezing temperatures (which tends to exhaust batteries quicker) and it has handled moderately rainy conditions. Petzl NAO

rated 4.5 of 5 stars Bright, reactive lighting maximizes battery life and optimizes brightness for the task at hand. Been using the Nao for a couple years now for any fast paced nighttime activity including trail running, roller skiing, cross country skiing, and night mountain biking and a bit of mountaineering. I used it last January during a 24 hour run in Wisconsin and although 500+ lumens wasn't needed as the long distance necessitated a slower pace, it definitely helped psychologically since the sun is down for… Full review

UCO A-120

rated 4 of 5 stars Light and comfortable on the head with an easily adjustable output, the UCO A-120 works well for in-camp lighting or after dark activity both on- and off-trail. Good battery life even on the brightest setting makes this lamp especially good for those who night hike or do other activities that require long periods of use, even if it is just reading in your tent. Product Specifications From Vendor:    BATTERY TYPE (included): 3x 1.5v AAA in external pack    BULB TYPE: CREE XP-E LED    HIGHLY… Full review
