Materials: All leather uppers, Gore-Tex lining, heavy Vibram sole
Use: Winter day use and after-ski shoe in mountains
Break-in Period: None (a week break-in is wise before trail use)
Weight: 2 lb 6 oz pair
Price Paid: $79

Waterproof Gore-Tex lined and heavy Vibram sole, these are very sturdy lowcuts made with Lowa's typical Teutonic robustness. Used them with great satisfaction as day use and after ski shoe in Lake Tahoe winter, where they gripped the snow and ice and repelled the slush marvelously. Happy warm dry feet.

Good fit, sole grip, and durability. Nylon shank.

There are better ventilating shoes for the desert, unless taken off-trail in which case the all leather upper with toe and heel rands of this shoe would be more beneficial against barbs and spines than a nylon mesh one. Great serious trail shoe for spring, fall or winter, or high altitudes in summer.
