User Review: Lowe Alpine Attack MX 42+10
Looks like a very good backcountry ski pack. For longer winter trips I use my old Dana Designs Terraplane. For day trips I use a Camelbak Commander camo hunting pack (3,000 cu. in. + 800 cu. in. with add-on side pockets)
I had to modify it by adding an aluminum flat bar pre-bent upside down U frame I bolted in. Also I cut off the useless cloth belt and added an REI Ridgeline padded waistbelt that happened to fit perfectly behind the Camelbak's lumbar pad (which I unstitched on the sides to slip in the new belt).
Finally I sewed on 1/2" webbing with QR buckles on the bottom for the sleeping bag and mattress. It worked great last winter for an overnighter Ski Patrol course.
Had I but known of the Lowe Alpine Attack I could have saved myself some work.
