I feel I have to comment on this bag I have now owned for about 10 years. As a top-of-the-range bag then, I was recommended it by a school teacher. It has a very simple design, I large stuff-space, divided by one internal septum (zipped).
One large top-pocket, one slim internal document pocket, removable aluminium support frame (double as leg-splints). Lumbar support, adjustable rack, thick belt and chest strap. I have been from the USA to Europe, from Central India to the Himalya range with this sack.
It has never failed. Not one zip, cord, pocket, flap, fabric, buckle or strap. It has to be the most reliable thing I have ever owned. It has saved a life (sturdy staps supporting human weight). I have bivvied in it (well my legs did) and have subjected it to long multiple bus rides over the Indian mountain ranges riding in the trunk.
I love my bag. I hope Lowe (Alpine) keep up their standards.
