I slept out on the AT in Georgia, and it dipped to the upper twenties, and I was actually quite warm, despite the fact that I was sleeping on just a pile of leaves... My feet were cold, but other than that, I was comfortable enough.
I also slept out in Colorado and California through different seasons (but winter), and was very pleased with the warmth it provided.
