User Review: Marmot Scranton Anorak

Rating: rated 4 of 5 stars
Fabric: 2-ply Membrain
Price Paid: $299 (discontinued?)

I got this on clearance from Sierra Trading Post. It's supposed to be for snowboarding I guess, but I use it as a rain jacket too. It's cut big and is really comfortable. As for waterproofness, I wore it in pouring rain in the spray of a 200 ft. waterfall and the water never soaked through. The water does soak into the outer nylon layer somewhat, giving the illusion that it is soaking through, but it doesn't. I find, though, that if I get it wet and am not wearing more than a T-shirt underneath, I get pretty cold. If you get too hot while wearing it, not only does the Membrain fabric vent well, but the jacket has a bunch of places where it can be unzipped. It even has a powder skirt.
