Summary

Excellent buy for its durability and capacity. Not so great as far as comfort is concerned. It truly is "Hard-use Gear."

Pros

  • 1000 Denier construction makes it extremely durable
  • M.O.L.L.E. system makes expanding easy
  • Dedicated hydration pocket

Cons

  • Uncomfortable backpack straps

All the reviews I read and people I talked with spoke highly of Maxpedition products and their rugged construction. I purchased the Falcon II pack and was eager to get it so that I could make use of its features. I am very impressed at its size and capabilities. The M.O.L.L.E. system makes add-ons a cinch and the dedicated hydration pocket is a must-have in my opinion.

The first trip I made with it was short (6 miles) and through flat terrain. Overall weight of the pack and its contents was around 15 lbs. Not a full mile in and I was struggling to adjust the straps so that it rode in a comfortable position on my back. I had no such luck. I believe that the design of the pack straps are the cause of the problem. There isn't much padding on them and they dig into my neck causing great discomfort.

I have yet to find a comfortable position for it to sit on my back.

Aside from this problem I have found this pack to be every bit what it is designed to be. Keep in mind however that Maxpedition products are designed for Hard-Use and not so much comfort.
