a terrific buy. i've used this boot over some rough trails with a 60 lb load, and have been fine. in fact, i bought them only a week before a 4 day hike though new hampshire and the worst i got was a threat of blisters after a strenuous hike. the blisters never materialized. one reason i like using day boots is the short break in period and weight. these support my ankles just fine. in fact, i slipped a few times i felt them hold my ankles from twisting.

i've taken them through mud and streams, and my socks stayed dry all but one time, but this probably had more to do with the fact that i was in water up to my shin. they did get a wee bit warm on hot days, but it was nothing a cold running stream couldn't solve.

all this for $100? what a deal.
