User Review: Merrell Eagle Waterproof
Rating: ![]()
Materials: nubuk/synthetic
Use: rough trail with average weight pack
Break-in Period: 5-10 miles
Weight: 2 lbs. 5 oz.
Price Paid: $100
Don't let the price throw you, these boots are right up there with the more expensive ones. They are very comfortable with tons of ankle padding, and very supportive with the steel shank. The Merrell traction sole proved grippy in all but the muddiest situations, and fit was low-medium volume. Very wide, too.
It doen't have Gore-Tex, but simply Merrell's own waterproof membrane. It proved fine for rain, and sometimes walking through shallow creeks, although it does leak a tiny bit (a couple of drops) near the bottom of the tongue area.
I would recommend these boots to anyone who needs reliable, comfortabe, waterproof boots at a low price.
