Merrell M2 Blast

rated 4 of 5 stars

The M2 Blast has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best backpacking boots for 2024.

These boots are exceptional. There was no break in time required for me at all. They are very comfortable and absorb shock well, even when running on pavement.

They are quite light. The sole is a durable vibram sole with ridges near the toe to make ascending easier. However you will need to apply a waterproofing agent and because the sole is a durable rubber, wet traction is not as good as some softer sole models.

Have had my pair for a good eight years now. No need to break them in, they are fantastic! I didn't take very good care of them so now when I walk through snow or water my feet get a bit wet. Will try and get the same or follow-up model because I think they are fantastic: reasonably light, easy care, great sole, superb fit!

When I first had these boots I thought they were the GREATEST! Comfy right out of the box, nice grippy soles, good support. Then 3 months passed. Durability seems not to have been a concern to the designers at Merrell. I may as well have been hiking in sneakers. From now on I want boots that hurt at the beginning!
