User Review: Moss Tents Little Dipper

Rating: rated 5 of 5 stars
Design: four season
Sleeps: 4
Ease of Setup: fairly easy
Weight: 5.1 kg
Price Paid: $700

Bought this tent half a year ago. I was looking for a 4-season tent, able to hold 4 people and it had to be a geodesic design. I came across the little dipper in an outdoor shop in The Netherlands and I knew this was the tent I wanted!!! I normally use the tent during backpacking and bicycle holidays throughout Europe. With backpacking you need at least 1 buddy to share the weight of the tent, during bicycle holidays weight isn't really an issue (at least, to me). Summarizing:

SPACE: square floor plan (over 50 square feet!). Great for 2 during extended trips, good for 3, able to hold 4. Large hooped vestibule where you can put all the gear of at least 2 people with some room left to cook.

DESIGN: well thought through. Large stake loops, reflective guy lines, lots of gear pockets inside (6!) and gearloft included, low wind shedding design.

MATERIALS: top quality (DAC 9.3 mm alu poles), rip stop polyester flysheet, brass grommets, reflective guy lines.

VENTILATION: excellent (2 doors, with zipped mesh screens), one side can be opened to reveal a mesh side wall) a top vent etc. Great in warm climates.

PERFORMANCE: I used the tent in torrential downpours, no problem. With 1 meter of snow on to, no problem. The flysheet seams are taped as is the seam in the groundfloor.

WEIGHT: Okay, a bit heavy but you get durable quality and especially after spending a couple of nights in a Dutch autumn downpour for days, warm and dry in my little dipper whilst tents around me were collapsing, the weight is definately worth the effort!

Overall a great, sturdy, top quality tent. I have used tent of MACPAC, TNF (VE25) and they don't compare to the little dipper. This Moss tent is just one of the best there is!!
