From Backcountry.com:
"The Mountain Hardwear Men's Torch Jacket represents the evolution of softshells. The hooded jacket weighs barely over a pound, making it an obvious choice on sunny days for backcountry skiers and ice climbers. Mountain Hardwear built the Torch Jacket with a Gore WindStopper laminate and underarm zippers; this way the fabric can be extremely thin but still offer the breathability and wind protection you've come to expect from softshells. Mountain Hardwear welded all the Torch Jacket's seams instead of stitching them. Welding the seams makes the jacket more compressible when it's packed, easier to move in, and more wind-resistant. Articulated sleeves allow you to naturally swing an ice axe without pulling up your coat, and the soft flannel-knit lining means you'll be at least a little comfy hanging onto those axes stuck into vertical ice."
From Altrec Outdoors:
"A lightweight, windproof, water-repellant softshell for ice and alpine climbing. Four way stretch and a lightly brushed inner provide exceptional comfort."
From Oregon Mountain Community:
"Moves when you move, stretches when you stretch, but doesn’t give an inch to the elements. WINDSTOPPERr® Soft Shell and Mountain Hardwear's patented zWeld seam (welded, stretchy and impervious to water) create a windproof, exceptionally weather-resistant shell for ice and alpine climbing. The jacket stopped "beading" in the wet just a couple months after wear, although the stitching and all still holds strong now 3 years after purchase."
