It is a very versatile pack although originally intended as a technical pack. It is my go-to pack for my packrafting and fishing hikes to high mountain lakes. There are plenty of pockets and storage to keep things separated and versatile straps make adding things easy.
- Storage options
- Excess strap material
I first acquired the pack as a winter technical pack due to the fact that there are straps that allow external attachment of skis, snowboard or snowshoes. When not in use, the straps conveniently hide within the front external pocket.
I used this pack all last season for all of my day hikes which worked out to be just shy of 300 miles. The pack has held up to all of my off trail adventures and it has actually become more comfortable as it has conformed to the shape of my back. While it is not the lightest of packs, it is a viable option for heavier loads on day hikes.
I take my fly fishing rafting setup to every lake that I visit and I've worked out a great system with this pack. I carry up to 15lbs and it is hardly noticeable with the comfortable strap and suspension system. There is a separate compartment for a water bladder which is not entirely necessary and some my complain about.
My one complaint is that they give you way more strap material than you could ever use. I promptly cut off the excess.
Overall, I enjoy this pack very much and I bought a second for my wife which she uses for summer backpacking trips.
