photo: Mountain House Granola with Milk and Blueberries breakfast

My favorite breakfast when I feel like splurging on something other than instant Quaker oatmeal. I tried this last year and I loved it. It was sweet and filling.

Pros

  • Filling
  • Delicious

Cons

  • Pricey
  • Large packaging

Granola and blueberries for breakfast! Yummy treat on the trail!

Taste: Delicious!

Price: A bit high for instant breakfast food

Packaging: Takes up a lot of space in a bear canister, especially when most of the meals in there are freeze dried.

Fulfilling: Very much so!

Calories: Packed with calories to get you going in the morning or to have as a snack or desert at night.

I wish Mountain House made more sweet tasting breakfast foods like this one. I think I have also had an apple crumble type desert by them as well that was tasty.

The packaging takes up a lot of space for what it is. If you put five of these side by side next to five packages of instant oatmeal, the oatmeal wins, and when you are really trying to squeeze in breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, coffee, etc... into a bear bin for 8-9 days it's hard to get these big packages to fit. So I treat myself with just one or two and use oatmeal the rest of the days.

Took this breakfast on a week-long canoe trip. Was so impressed I immediately decided that Mountain House meals are the way to go for lightweight camping!

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Easy to pack
  • Tasty!!!

While on a week-long canoe trip this spring instead of cooking all of my food I decided instead to pack Mountain House meals along with some other freeze dried and dehydrated meals. This allowed me to travel so much lighter I have decided there's no way I will EVER go back to the old way for that trip!!!

This particular breakfast was surprisingly tasty and my only regret is that I didnt buy three more of them! The Granola Blueberries & Milk was so simple to prepare!!! Simply add cold water, let sit, then enjoy!

It was so filling that I didn't snack until lunch time. With the way it is packaged it is extremely easy to pack in and out as it takes up minimal room!!

Not too bad, the re-hydrated "milk" is tasty enough. For a short trip, where weight isn't the biggest issue, I would say to pack it- but for a long haul, with weight being paramount, I would say that it would be better to "roll your own."

I like them.

Pros

  • Great taste

Cons

  • Never enough

It's a nice snack. Great taste, I was surprised how good it was.

This meal taste great. It is loaded with calories which makes it a good breakfast for the backcountry. But next time I think I will make my own, and save money.

The best breakfast (hot or cold).

Pros

  • Very tasty

The right size, very good flavor. Love it.
