User Review: MSR WaterWorks EX

Rating: ![]()
Price Paid: $150 CAD
Have used many filters and like the ability to see the filter surface (unlike my old Sweetwater), agreed it is fairly heavy but in the African bush the ability to boil the ceramic filter provides additional peace of mind.
During boil water advisory in Vancouver, Canada, the water was so poor I only got about 3L before the filter clogged and needed cleaning. Filtered for 10 days at about 15L / day and lost about 50% of the filters thickness giving an estimated 300L / filter with turbid water, not close to the claimed 1000L.
My old Sweetwater's pump handle kept breaking, so far so good with this one.
Filter replacements are MUCH MUCH too expensive, almost makes sense to buy new unit since cost of both filters is almost the same as unit new!
