Ortovox ABS packs are the most versatile women's avalanche airbag backpacks for backcountry skiing and riding, and is ready to accept the ABS airbag system. This Ortovox Free Rider 24 ABS Ready Backpack for women is designed for a close to the body fit for fast motion and features a removable back protector and all the attachment options you'll need. M.A.S.S. - MODULAR AIRBAG SAFETY SYSTEM: Ortovox places trust in their system partner's 28 years of ABS airbag expertise and their tried and tested twinbag technology. The versatility of the system is both innovative and unique. Just a few motions and only three minutes is all it takes to install the M.A.S.S. unit into an Ortovox ABS pack. If conditions allow, installing the airbag system can be entirely avoided. In such cases the backpacks are up to 1880 grams lighter and gain several liters in additional volume - making them suitable for a broader spectrum of uses. What's more, the adjustment options prove just as versatile as the system itself. The release grip can be installed for either right or left-handed users and the height and angle can be freely adjusted. Removable Airbag ready for the M.A.S.S.- Modular Airbag Safety System and the ABS Avalanche Airbag Activation Unit which are sold separately. A stowable aluminum bracket protects the grip from unintended release. In addition to its unmistakable silhouette, the highlight here is the new removable SPS PRO2 back protector. It provides TUV-certified safety and can also be used separately with the included attachment straps. Weighing in at only 300 grams, it affords optimal ventilation courtesy of its ventilation holes. The ergonomically designed straps and the wide elastic hip belt with an innovative aluminum locking clasp ensure the protector fits per-fectly and thus provides optimum protection. It provides additional safety and ease of use even when wearing thick gloves. What's more, Ortovox relies upon robust aluminum and abrasion-resistant hypalon for their new multi-functional X-SKIFIX ski fastening system. Secured by locking aluminum clasps, the skis can be attached either diagonally or crossed, as can snowboards or snowshoes. X-Skifix. Airbag inside. Release grip; Height and angle are adjustable. There are tons of reasons to head into the backcountry, and even more reasons to make it home safely every time you do. Skiing virgin powder and steep lines is an incredible way to spend your day (or year, or life), but it doesn't come risk-free--avalanches are an ever-present danger, difficult to predict and even harder to escape. The Ortovox Free Rider 24 Women's ABS Airbag Backpack doesn't replace education, experience, and careful decision making, but it does offer proven life-saving technology that can make the difference between being buried and coming home safe at night. The Free Rider 24 is designed for users with a 14-16in torso, and features an ABS Modular Airbag Safety System (M.A.S.S.) that comes with removable twin airbags, one on either side of the pack, with a combined volume of 170L to help you rise to the top of the debris when caught in an avalanche. An adjustable trigger can be set up on the left or right shoulder strap for easy access, and an aluminum safety bracket zips into a compartment on either strap to prevent accidental releases. (The trigger can also be released from the zippered position, but requires a strong, deliberate action.) When deployed, the airbags fill within seconds, working to keep the wearer on the surface on the slide and acting as brightly-colored locators during rescue. If you're wearing the pack in-bounds or otherwise out of danger, the airbags, trigger, and refillable canister are removable, reducing the weight by nearly 2 pounds. Once you've deployed the airbags, you must replace the Activation Unit, which consists of the trigger, the small internal trigger canister, and the larger airbag-inflating canister (replacement must be done through ABS or a certified dealer). Ortovox didn't stop designing once the Free Rider was a top-notch avalanche pack. It also comes equipped with a breathable SPS Pro removable back protector that you can wear on its own if you're planning on getting crazy, or remov...
