Osprey AquaSource

The AquaSource has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best hydration packs for 2024.

photo: Osprey AquaSource hydration pack

This pack will fit inside of it a full 3 liter hydration bag, sunglasses, sunscreen, gloves, beanie, few cliff bars, and maybe a couple of other small things. On the outside it has very usable bungee straps that can hold a jacket comfortably and maybe a shovel and some skins in a stuff sack.

The tube and bite valve for your hydration system hides away inside of the right shoulder strap to keep it warm, or clean if you aren't in the snow and don't think before you drop your pack in the dirt.

The stow away bite valve makes this hydration pack by far my favorite hydration pack I have ever owned. In addition the good design of the bungee cords on the outside make the effective size of this pack much larger than the touted 5L. Overall, this is a great pack if you don't need a lot of stuff other than water.
