Osprey Highlander

rated 5.0 of 5 stars

The Highlander has been discontinued. If you're looking for something new, check out the best weekend packs for 2024.

The Highlander is a great all around pack. I have used it for weekend excursions and week long trips. It can handle heavy loads, or it can be compressed down for those short trips. It is stable and secure even when bushwacking and climbing.

One of the biggest assets of the pack is the vector compression systems that attach to the back of the pack. I have the Summit Vector which gives me an additional 1100 cu inches and a pack to take to the summit while the rest of my pack stays at camp. If necessary I can detatch the lid and it converts to a 700 cu in fanny pack. Lots of room in this pack when you need it. It is helpful when snow camping with bulky clothes.

Osprey has great customer service and stands behind their products completely. A great company to work with.

The only drawback I have found with the pack is all this luxury, comfort, and room come in a 6 lb 7 oz package (2.93kg).
