User Review: Osprey Solo

Rating: rated 3 of 5 stars

Summary

Good minimalist backpack.

Pros

  • Packable
  • Light
  • Quick access

Cons

  • Stability
  • Comfort

This is a small daypack or, more precisely, an accessory pack.

I have use it a couple of times for alpine climbing. From the tent to the route and back, during a day. It could be useful when you just want to take the absolute minimum, like some water and a wind jacket. I used it also to carry my shoes during the climbing and was just enough. However, this is not what the Solo was designed for, there are better options just for this scope.

It has 8 L and is pretty light. It packs small if using a larger backpack for approach, or can be attached to it for extra space. Because of its size limitation, you are forced to take just the absolutely necessary during your day adventure.

It has a Yoke-style harness with a waist-belt that comes a little high if you're taller. Don't expect too much comfort.
