prAna Sutra Pant
Very comfortable for daily use or yoga I currently own two pairs of PrAna's Sutra pants. These pants are extremely comfortable, but do come with a few drawbacks. COMFORT: The comfort of the Sutra pants is precisely why I now own two pairs. These things are like wearing pajamas around all day. They are by far the most comfortable pants I own. They have proven themselves to be good pants for hiking, general use, and fishing (they flex with you and dry quickly when wet) as well as for yoga… Full review
MontBell Men's Plasma 1000 Down Jacket
Extremely lightweight jacket for ultralight backpackers. I should start by saying that the Montbell Plasma 1000 is a new jacket for me. I purchased it a few weeks ago for ultra lightweight warmth while backpacking through New England this fall. In the brief while that I have owned it, I have been able to take it out a few times and get some initial impressions. I'll try to get more in the way of photos the next time I'm on a group hike and the temperature drops. Fit: The Plasma is a fairly… Full review
Avalanche Wear Mogul Pant
Most comfortable pants EVER. Bought a pair of these last week and I really don't want to wear anything else now. The fit is excellent and form flattering. The outer material is smooth polyester and seems to block wind as a previous reviewer mentioned. The inside is soft cozy fleece. Not sure if the waistband has elastic or what, but it is padded for comfort and hugs your waist without pinching at all. The zip pocket is a great size and large enough to carry credit cards, tissues, lip balm, etc. Full review
Outdoor Research Men's Helium Hybrid Jacket
As the name implies, this is a hybrid between a windshirt and a rain jacket. It's lightweight jacket and a good choice when the forecast looks good, but as we all know can change. I was intrigued when I came across this garment—a hybrid between a windshirt and a rain jacket. I often head out to the mountains with the forecast favorable, but know that mountain showers are always a possibility and thus carry both a windshirt and a hardshell—but rarely wearing the hardshell. This garment gives… Full review
Patagonia Men's Merino Air Hoody
Every base layer needs a hood. I could hardly tell it was there it stretches and breathes so well. The Merino Air Hoody is easily one of the best products I have reviewed so far. I have often repeated the advice, "it's no good with no hood." Hats are okay but they get lost (kids take them) and make your head itch. Most of my jackets have hoods, my insulating layers have hoods, if I could buy socks with a hood, I'd do it. That is why I was so stoked to finally try out a base layer that features such… Full review
Lorpen Men's T3 Light Hiker
These socks are great for hiking in summer. The moisture management is excellent. This is a great light and fast sock. The Lorpen socks are well made, and have held up well. Off trail, they could be a bit heavier, but they aren't supposed to be used so aggressively. They are perfect socks for summer on the AT, the moisture management of the socks is excellent! I used the socks this summer for everything from walking on a paved road to full off-trail bushwacking on very steep mountainsides. Full review
Icebreaker Bodyfit 260 Olympia Crewe
Great product, warm, odor free, and no wool itch from the super fine merino. Their sizing runs on the small side, and you need to be careful of moths! I love my merino undershirts enough that I own four. I have two Icebreaker brand and two not, and the Icebreaker ones have proven more hardy that the others. I have worn this snowboarding, on fieldwork for a couple of weeks at a time, and under dressy clothes in cold climates and it does the job amiably. My biggest gripe is that their sizing runs… Full review
