Fox River Pioneer Crew Socks
These socks dry quickly and offer great comfort at a reasonable price. You can purchase three pairs of these for the price of other brands. I love these socks. They fit well and wear like iron. They are easy to care for also. Just throw them in regular cold wash and you are all set. They hold up well in the dryer also. I brought a three pack of these socks and they cost about the same as other brands at one sock. I have had the socks, three pack, and have hiked a gazillion miles and they still look… Full review
Craghoppers NosiLife Insect Shield Pro Long Sleeved Shirt
Synthetic stretch insect-repellent shirt. Well featured, but too tight a fit. I bought this shirt because I wanted a fast-drying all-synthetic shirt for future hiking trips. This one fitted the bill nicely. It's from a brand that is (or was) a favourite of mine, and I found it at a very good price. The shirt is billed as a stretch shirt with an "active" fit and is made of a polyester/elastane mix. I thought the fit would not perhaps be as generous as the standard Craghoppers Kiwi shirt, of which… Full review
Black Diamond Men's Access Hybrid Hoody
An insulated jacket with a good amount of breathability and stretch for cold weather climbing. After years of discomfort while cold weather climbing, I made it a priority to find a jacket better suited for cold weather. My previous solution was to climb in either a softshell jacket or a down jacket. The softshell was stretchy and breathable, but I’d be cold in 50 degree or colder weather. The down jacket was warmer but didn’t stretch and I was always afraid I would tear the shell material. So… Full review
The North Face Women's Venture Jacket
The lifetime warranty means nothing. The lining in mine has completely deteriorated and the jacket is unusable. And I'm told lifetime warranty = 2 years! Very disappointing. Don't waste your money! Very disappointed with this item, as I thought I was getting something of quality. The lining has completely deteriorated and the jacket is unusable....it can only go in the bin. Their "lifetime" warranty (as I've been informed by email) means two years. Deceptive advertising if you ask me! Don't waste… Full review
Marmot Men's PreCip Jacket
Inexpensive shell jacket that does a decent job of blocking wind and rain. Durability is average. Breathability is better than average. Value is hard to beat. I'm 6 feet tall and 175 lbs with an athletic build. I purchased this jacket new to take on a year-long trip through South America. I used this jacket as my rain jacket, wind jacket, insect protection, and light insulating layer. After one year of demanding use this jacket held up slightly above average. The construction held up, but the DWR… Full review
Loki Morf Zip Up Hoodie
This is a hoodie you can live in. Highly recommended. The fit of this hoodie is generous to say the least. The size I have is a medium, and I normally take a large to XL in most other outerwear items. Comfortable too. The mitts and the face/neck guard are built in to the hoodie, as is done on all Loki jackets and parkas. The material is water resistant, not waterproof. It will hold up okay against a light rain sprinkle. Loki offers it in a small selection of colors. It works well alone, under a… Full review
Darn Tough Merino Micro Crew Sock Cushion
These are the best hiking socks! After talking to some salespeople in the store I went ahead and bought two pairs last year and they are still the two pair I bring with me on my backpacking trips. I bought these expensive hiking socks after talking to a few people in the store about hiking socks. They said these were the best and they weren't kidding. They are very comfortable, not too thin and not too thick. They don't create friction in my hiking boots so no blisters. They dry out pretty quickly… Full review
