Outdoor Research Shiftup Zip Top
The women's Shiftup Zip Top by Outdoor Research is a versatile mid-layer that keeps me warm and comfortable across a wide range of outdoor activities. The hexagon fleece wicks moisture efficiently and feels comfortable against my skin. Testing Conditions: I tested the women’s Shiftup Zip Top as a member of the Trailspace Review Corps from late October 2017 through mid-February 2018 in and around the New Hampshire White Mountains. Temperatures during testing ranged from about -20 to 45 degrees… Full review
Arc'teryx Men's Epsilon LT Hoody
My favorite jacket. Ever. So i can see why people have a difficult time figuring out what this jacket excels at. I have two, an XL that i have worn pretty much every day (except in the summer) for the past 5 years. I use it primarily as a one-tool option softshell/ hardfleece. This year i got a size Large to use for layering and couldn't be happier. So it's not as soft or insulated as the Gamma MX, & not as stretchy as the Gamma LT. It's also a little more than half the price of the… Full review
ALPS Mountaineering Nimbus Jacket
The ALPS Mountaineering Nimbus is a rain jacket that I’ve found to be waterproof and also very breathable. It’s cut a little large for layering. Disclosure: I enrolled in the ALPS Mountaineering product review program, bought the jacket at MSRP, and received a 40% off MSRP rebate for my first review with a further 20% off MSRP for my second, for a total of 60% off MSRP. I bought my ALPS Mountaineering Nimbus Jacket a couple years ago mainly to wear while deicing aircraft. The price was right… Full review
Craghoppers Venta Lite II jacket
A very lightweight warm jacket with hybrid insulation. A good all-around jacket for any activity. Craghoppers Venta Lite II jacket looks like your basic down puffy jacket, but is quite a bit more. The Venta Lite shell is comprised of 100% Polyamide (nylon) and is windproof and water resistant. By using their Thermo Elite Hybrid insulation (60% down, 40% ThermoElite synthetic fiber clusters) Craghoppers has taken the best properties of the two types of insulation while minimizing the shortfalls. The… Full review
Patagonia Men's R1 Pullover
Good, with certain limitations. I bought a 2017 model R1 Pullover because I liked the color and was intrigued by the awesome reviews. It's attractive and I get compliments every time I wear it. I know that means nothing to gearheads. Functionally, its ratio of warmth-to-weight is great; but as many people say, it does not stop wind. The 2017 sleeves are tighter than previous years, making it almost impossible to wear anything more than a "compression" shirt underneath. I find a sleeveless underlayer… Full review
Mountain Hardwear Men's Chillwave Parka
Warm, durable, fits great, layers over well. This is great for super cold days, winter camping was easy and comfortable in this thing. The fabric is nice and strong, dries quickly, cleans easily. Sometimes I curl up in this to take naps, it's just so cozy. The $400 price tag was worth it. Full review
Patagonia Men's Re-Tool Snap-T Pullover
This is the most amazing product Patagonia has ever made. So soft, so cozy, so durable, so perfect. Girl-friends, friends of mine that are girls, have worn this fleece and I've wanted one for years. I almost bought a women's one just because it's that amazing and they didn't make a men's version. Well, finally, Patagonia did something, put out a men's style. It fits so well, not too tight, but not baggy and sloppy like those synchilla sacks. It says fluffy and soft, unlike those synchilla sacks… Full review
