An excellent fleece mid layer for all seasons. A classic look that works well over or under other layers to provide an extra layer of warmth.
- Fast drying
The Patagonia lightweight snap-t fleece sweater is an excellent choice for those looking to do expeditions, day trips, or even car camping in the front country. It is a versatile layer that can be used over light layers, or under heavier down vests and parkas comfortable.
It fits a little baggy, which serves this purpose well. It also features a Y cut sleeve that allows for freedom of arm movement without the bottom of the sweater rising up the wearer's torso. The garment isn't very adjustable, but four snaps on the neckline help adjust the style and ventilation of the chest.
This garment is not water resistant, but it is made of polyester, which is an extremely quick drying material. I wore it on a winter camping trip a few weeks ago and found it had frozen along the bottom as I was sitting on the hem. I was nervous that the snow would melt and it would be wet and cold, but less than an hour later, my body heat had melted the snow and dried the garment, keeping me nice and warm.
The snap t kept me very warm in -15°celsius when paired with a light down vest. We were quite active in snowshoeing and building quinzees, but I found I was neither warm nor cold while wearing the sweater.
As it is made by Patagonia, the snap t holds true in their product quality guarantee. I was putting it to the test of the elements, and wasn't being gentle when brushing through bush and bark. The sweater still looks brand new after a few washes, and I'm quite satisfied by the quality. If you run into issues with Patagonia gear, they will exchange, repair, or replace the garment. They have a very comprehensive warranty plan that promotes sustainable ethics in recycling and reducing waste for the product's life.
The major downside to this sweater is the price. All of Patagonia's equipment is on the pricey side, and this is no exception. They often have sales and web exclusives that can lower the price you pay, but rest assured that the price is fair and the product quality is worth the price. I bought one for $83 on sale, and a week later spent $109 on one via their website.
