Patagonia R5 Wool-Lined Lobster Mitt
Where to Buy
Here's what other sites are saying:
A two-hour session in subzero wind can turn your hands into fumbling, half-frozen claws. The R5(R) Wool Lined Lobster Mitts offer our warmest hand protection for sessions in truly frigid water and air, making sure you can still turn your keys when you get back to the car. Made from durable 7mm wetsuit neoprene laminated to a merino wool jersey liner, the articulated panels conform to the hand for a snug and comfortable grip, and the split-hand construction allows for better dexterity than a conventional mitt design. The merino is chlorine-free, soft next to the skin and stays warm when wet, while the polyester jersey dries quickly and adds durability. Seams are externally sealed to eliminate leaks, and high-stress areas are secured with glue dots, 1cm bartacks and Melco(R) reinforcements.
For frigid cold water & air, 37deg F and below/ 3deg C and below. When it came to wetsuits, we wanted something warmer, more flexible, better fitting and tough enough to withstand extended use. Looking to what divers, sailors and fishermen had been using all these years to stay warm, in and on the ocean, we tried wool. For comfort and performance, we blend merino wool with polyester, and it's this merino/polyester blend lining that gives our wetsuits their added warmth without added rubber. We make wetsuits in four weights for all water temperatures - R1(R) (warm), R2(R) (cool), R3(R) (cold), and R4(R) (frigid) - and in several cuts for men and women. Patagonia wetsuits are decidedly warmer than standard nylon-lined suits, but they also wear longer, dry faster and are made from post-consumer recycled polyester, merino wool softened without chlorine, and no PVC. PU-laminated palm and fingers increase grip and durability. Articulated neoprene panels conform to hand for a snug, comfortable fit. Fabric: 7mm neoprene lined with chlorine-free merino wool/recycled polyester jersey. Weight: 192 g (6.8 oz).
