User Review: Patagonia Storm Cycle Pants

Rating: rated 3 of 5 stars
Fabric: 3 layer waterproof/breathable
Price Paid: $185/$150

I recently purchased the Storm Cycle jacket and pants as they appeared to be the lightest available 3 layer garmets with an advertised weight of 12oz/10oz, or 22oz for the combo.

Both are nicely made, and fit trimly with the stretch material. The jacket has no pit zips and the only pocket is a large zippered back pocket, unuseable with a pack on. The hood fits well but does not stow away. The cuffs are lycra, not velcro adjustable. The pants have ankle zips, no pockets, and have crampon patches on the insides of the ankles.

I was willing to accept the lack of features for the lightweight. But, when I checked the real weights on a digital scale it was 15oz for the jacket and 13oz for the pants, a full 6oz (+30%) over the advertised weights. Kind of makes you wonder about product quality when the manufacturer so grossly misstates the product weight. Are they 30% less waterproof than advertised?
