Description

The Zephyr 10.3 mm is a dynamic rope made by Petzl. It has an average rating of 0.5 stars (out of 5), based on 1 user review.

Manufacturer's Description:
The Zephyr is Petzl’s toughest all-around rope. The 10.3 mm diameter offers additional friction in belay/rappel devices for more control, and is extra durable. Its low static elongation also makes it ideal for jugging fixed lines and top roping.

All Petzl rope sheaths make up at least 33% of the total weight of the rope, translating into superior core protection. Combined with a DuraTec dry treatment, Petzl ropes can withstand the abuse of rough granite and abrasive sandstone for countless pitches. All Petzl ropes are ready to use straight out of the package thanks to the special factory butterfly coil. To help prevent lowering and rappelling accidents, Petzl ropes are marked 6 meters from each end to alert climbers that the rope end is approaching. In addition, the middle of each cord is marked to facilitate safer descents.

Here's what other sites are saying:

From Backcountry.com:
"The Petzl Zephyr Climbing Rope tackles the local top-rope crag, multi-pitch granite walls, and days of dogging your project with equal toughness. The Zephyr's 10.3mm diameter gives you extra friction and increased control, while its thick, durable sheath offers up a longer lifespan. Petzl also added a Duratec dry treatment to the sheath and core for enhanced protection against water absorption and freezing."

From Oregon Mountain Community:
"The Petzl Zephyr is their toughest all-around rope. The 10.3 mm diameter offers additional friction in belay/rappel devices for more control, and is extra durable. This workhorse rope is great for people just getting into the sport or for those who want the increased longevity of a thicker diameter rope. Duratec Dry treatment helps prevent the rope from absorbing water – which can weaken a rope and make it difficult to handle in freezing conditions. Before a Petzl rope is constructed, the core and sheath strands are individually treated, providing water repellencty in case you find yourself in a deluge, snowfield or on a dripping ice chandelier. All Petzl ropes are butterfly coiled in the factory and are ready to use straight out of the package. This coiling method means no more tangled mess when you first use your new rope. Gone is the tedious operation of carefully uncoiling, flaking and reflaking your new rope, only to end up with annoying kinks. With a Petzl rope, just tie-in and start climbing. To help facilitate descents, the middle of each Petzl cord is marked with a black bar. Even with this marking, it’s sometimes a good idea to tie a knot at the end of the rope as an additional safety measure.Specifications: Diameter: 10.3 mm Lengths: 60 & 70 m Type: single rope Weight: 67 g/m UIAA falls: 10 Impact force: 7.28 kN Elongation:- dynamic: 33.7 %- static: 6 % % sheath by weight: 34 %"

From Altrec Outdoors:
"A tough all-around workhorse, the Petzl Zephyr Climbing Rope is great for people just getting into climbing, or for those who want increased longevity. The extra durability and high fall-rate safety feature of the traditional 10.3 mm diameter makes it ideal for demanding days on a sport rock or big wall free climbing. The diameter also adds additional friction control in belay/rappel devices when desired. Featuring a dry coating to reduce water absorption and increase durability, this everyday line is tough enough to tie-in on any challenging route."

"Within a few months of use the sheath has turned into a fuzzy mess. It picks up dirt like crazy and is hard to feed thru a belay device. I've owned plenty of ropes from different manufactures over the years and this is the quickest I've seen a rope wear out."
